XYZ Racing Drift Spec Coilovers — Volkswagen GOLF R MK6 4WD φ55 (Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping) 2008-2012

Sending 270bhp through all four corners of a Golf R Mk6 is easy. Getting the rear to step out predictably on command, with the front end holding a clean line into the transition, is the hard part – and it’s exactly what this Drift Spec build is set up to do. Volkswagen’s Haldex-based 4WD system fights weight transfer by design, which means the suspension has to do more of the work of unsettling and resettling the chassis on demand.

This kit is the Φ55-body, cancellation-kit variant, built specifically for Mk6 Golf R cars running electronic damping from the factory. The cancellation kit strips out the OE electronic damper control so the car runs purely on the mechanical adjustment built into the coilover – no conflicting signals, no warning lights, no half-measures between two damping systems fighting each other.

What this coilover does for your 2008-2012 Volkswagen GOLF R

Drift-specific valving changes how the Mk6 R settles its weight mid-transition – instead of the nose diving and staying planted (which fights the slide), the front recovers grip fast enough to catch the car, while the rear stays loose enough to hold an angle without snapping to full lock-up. Ride height drop is tuned around a proper bump stroke, which matters more on a drifting car than a track car: too little travel and the outside corner tops out mid-slide, unsettling the whole platform right when you need it stable. On a 4WD chassis like this, that stroke management is what stops the Haldex system’s natural understeer bias from fighting your input the moment you get on the throttle. The result on your Golf R is a car that transitions faster, holds an angle with less correction, and comes back out of the slide on your terms rather than the diff’s.

About the Drift Spec coilover

XYZ Racing built the Drift Spec line around one job: stabilising the body through high-speed, high-angle cornering so the car holds a clean, controllable drift angle rather than snapping or washing out. The valving is tuned to keep the chassis settled while it’s being deliberately unsettled – a different brief to a track coilover, which is built to minimise body movement altogether. Ride height is dropped with a bump stroke calibrated specifically for drift loading, not just for stance, so the suspension still has somewhere to go when the car’s weight shifts hard and fast mid-transition. On the Golf R’s φ55-body, cancellation-kit spec, that valving works through a monotube-style shock body sized for the Mk6’s mass and Haldex-driven weight transfer, with the OE electronic damper signal removed from the equation entirely. Owners running these report the car holding its line better once the ride height and bump stroke settle in, rather than needing constant correction through the transition.

Fitment for the Volkswagen GOLF R (2008-2012)

Built for the Mk6 Golf R 4WD, chassis code VO19-2-C, covering the 2008 to 2012 model years. This is the φ55-body, cancellation-kit-for-electronic-damping variant – confirm your car runs the factory electronic damping system before ordering, as this cancellation kit is specifically matched to that setup rather than a passive-damper Mk6 R.

This suspension is designed for Drift race especially. With its special design, it helps the racers stabilize the vehicle body while in high speed turning in order to make a perfect angle. It can also enhance drifting performance. After lowing the ride height with proper bump stroke, you will realize how we made the drift controlling to the excellent condition.
