XYZ Racing Drag Racing Coilovers — Volkswagen GOLF R MK6 4WD φ55 (Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping) 2008-2012

The Golf R Mk6’s Haldex 4WD system was built to put power down on wet British B-roads, not to hold a straight line off the line at full throttle. Under hard launch, weight transfer strips load from the front axle exactly when the Haldex clutch pack needs bite to send drive forward, and the standard suspension’s road-biased geometry works against you the moment the tyres load up. The XYZ Racing Drag Racing coilover is built specifically to fix that.

This kit lets you redistribute front-to-rear weight bias deliberately, loading the driven wheels harder in the first metres of a run rather than leaving it to chance. On a 4WD platform like the Mk6 R, that matters more than on a two-wheel-drive car, because both axles are trying to put power down at once and any wheel that unloads costs you traction everywhere.

What this coilover does for your 2008-2012 Volkswagen GOLF R

Fitted to a 2008-2012 Golf R, this setup changes how the car transfers load the instant you release the clutch or step off the line. The adjustable front-rear weight bias forces the driven tyres into greater instantaneous compression, cutting the idle time before the tread actually bites the tarmac. Less wheelspin at launch means less energy wasted before the car is actually moving, and a more stable platform through the first phase of the run means you’re not fighting the chassis for grip while you’re trying to build speed. This is a car whose all-wheel-drive traction advantage is usually wasted on the street – this coilover is what lets you actually use it at the strip. Because the cancellation kit disables the factory electronic damping control on this chassis, the ride characteristic becomes fixed and mechanical rather than software-managed, which is exactly what you want when consistency between runs matters more than daily comfort.

About the Drag Racing coilover

XYZ Racing’s Drag Racing coilover is purpose-designed for 0-400m runs across front-wheel-drive, rear-wheel-drive and 4WD platforms – the Golf R Mk6 sits in that last category. The core idea is instant, controllable weight transfer: the setup allows the front and rear ride height and load to be adjusted independently, so the car can be set up to force additional compression into the driven tyres exactly when the transmission calls for maximum traction. That reduces the time each driven wheel spends unloaded or spinning before it locks onto the surface, which is where launch time is lost on a Haldex-equipped car more than most. The result is a chassis that behaves more predictably from light to light, run after run, because the geometry doing the work is mechanical and repeatable rather than reactive.

Fitment for the Volkswagen GOLF R (2008-2012)

This kit is built for the Volkswagen Golf R Mk6, chassis code VO19-2-C, covering the 2008 to 2012 model years with the 4WD drivetrain. It includes the cancellation kit required to disable the factory electronic damping control fitted to this chassis, since the fixed-rate Drag Racing setup is not compatible with the standard adaptive damper electronics.

What buyers also search for

  • Volkswagen Golf R Mk6 drag coilovers for Haldex 4WD launch traction
  • Golf R Mk6 weight-transfer suspension setup for 0-400m runs
  • VW Golf R electronic damping cancellation kit for aftermarket coilovers
  • Golf R Mk6 strip-focused suspension without losing 4WD drivability
  • Volkswagen Golf R adjustable front-rear ride height for launch control

Configure the front-rear weight bias to suit your Golf R’s launch strategy – pick your spec below.

The coilovers are specially designed for 0~400 drag racing such as FWD, RWD or 4WD models. The setting allows vehicle to change the front and rear weight according to the transmission wheel in instant driving, and force the transmission tire having greater compression, which can reduce the idle time of wheel and improve the stability of the vehicle under high speed.
