XYZ Racing Drift Spec Coilovers — BMW 4 SERIES G22 (2WD/4WD) 4/6CYL (Modified Rear Integrated) 2020-2026

The G22 4 Series carries more weight over its nose than any drift regular is used to, and BMW tuned the standard suspension to fight that weight, not exploit it. XYZ Racing’s Drift Spec coilover for the G22, covering both the rear-drive and xDrive variants across the 4- and 6-cylinder line-up, changes the brief: independent ride height and damping control let you load the rear axle deliberately and hold the car at the angle competitive drifting calls for, rather than the angle the factory setup was designed to resist.

This is a single-purpose kit built for the drift discipline specifically, not a road-biased set with a sportier badge. The spring rates and damping are set to keep the G22’s body settled through fast, high-yaw transitions on entry, so the chassis reaches its slide angle cleanly instead of snapping into it, and the car behaves the same way run after run once it’s set up.

What this coilover does for your 2020-2026 BMW 4 Series G22

Independent front and rear ride height adjustment lets you drop the G22 low enough to shift its centre of gravity forward of where BMW left it, quickening the initial weight transfer that starts a slide. Because damping is separately controllable, you can firm up the rear to stop it wallowing under sudden lateral load while keeping the front compliant enough to read the road surface mid-corner. On the 4/6-cylinder cars with the modified rear-integrated-link setup, that combination matters more than usual: the rear axle’s geometry is already altered from stock, so the coilover’s damping range is what keeps the car predictable once you’ve committed to opposite lock. The net result on the G22 is a chassis that transitions into a slide on your input, not the suspension’s own rebound timing, and holds that line through the corner instead of correcting itself out of it.

About the Drift Spec coilover

The Drift Spec range is built around one job: keeping a car’s body stable while it’s being driven sideways at speed. Where a road or track-day coilover is valved to control roll and keep the tyre loaded through a fast corner taken on-line, this kit is valved to control the car’s attitude once the rear has already stepped out, so the body doesn’t pitch or wallow while you hold a big steering angle. Ride height drops as part of the same setup, and getting the bump stroke right at that lower height is what separates a kit that merely lowers the car from one that actually improves how it drifts – too little stroke and the chassis bottoms out mid-slide, too much and the body movement works against the driver’s inputs. Set correctly, the combination gives a G22 owner a car that holds its line through a sustained slide rather than requiring constant correction, which is the difference competitive drift judges are actually scoring.

Fitment for the BMW 4 Series G22 (2020-2026)

Fits the G22-generation BMW 4 Series across both the two-wheel-drive and xDrive four-wheel-drive lines, 4- and 6-cylinder engines, for the 2020 to 2026 model years – chassis code BM120-1. This listing covers the modified rear-integrated version of the platform, where the rear suspension links have already been altered from standard; confirm your car matches this rear-end spec before ordering, as the standard-link G22 uses a different coilover in the range.

This suspension is designed for Drift race especially. With its special design, it helps the racers stabilize the vehicle body while in high speed turning in order to make a perfect angle. It can also enhance drifting performance. After lowing the ride height with proper bump stroke, you will realize how we made the drift controlling to the excellent condition.

  • Hardened rubber top mountHardened rubberRHardened rubber upper — firmer than the factory bush for tighter response while retaining road-friendly noise and vibration isolation.

Rear

  • Aluminium top mountAluminiumAAluminium upper mount — a stiff, lightweight housing that locates the damper precisely and resists flex under load.
