XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally Coilovers — BMW 3 SERIES G20 (2WD/4WD) 4/6 CYL (Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping) 2018-2026

The G20 3 Series carries BMW’s electronically-controlled dampers as standard, which is exactly the problem for anyone building a stage car: those dampers won’t accept a fixed mechanical rate on their own. This kit pairs the Tarmac Rally coilover with the cancellation hardware needed to delete that electronic dependency, so the G20’s chassis – available here in both 2WD and 4WD, 4-cylinder and 6-cylinder configurations – can run a proper motorsport damper setup instead of fighting the factory control module.

Tarmac Rally is XYZ Racing’s setup for sealed-stage work on sealed surfaces, not gravel and not a daily commute. On a chassis with the G20’s weight and the traction differences between 2WD and 4WD variants, that means a damper tune built to keep the car composed over crests, compressions and mid-corner camber changes at pace, repeatedly, without the electronic layer getting in the way.

What this coilover does for your 2018-2026 Bmw 3 Series

With the electronic damping cancelled out, the G20 gets a fixed, driver-set damping curve instead of a computer-adjusted one – which on a rally stage is the point, since you want the car to behave the same on lap three as it did on lap one, not have the ECU re-map its ride under load. The 4WD variant benefits from a chassis that stays flatter under power out of slow corners, letting the drivetrain put torque down without the body rolling the weight off the loaded corner. The 2WD variant sees more immediate gains in rotation – a rally-tuned coilover settles the rear faster after a direction change, which matters when the next corner is a blind crest. Both 4-cylinder and 6-cylinder G20s carry different weight over the front axle, and the Tarmac Rally spec is built around managing that load through the strut rather than letting it push wide on entry.

About the Tarmac Rally coilover

XYZ Racing built the Tarmac Rally damper specifically to deal with broken and uneven tarmac – the kind of surface stage roads actually are, as opposed to a smooth circuit. The valving is set up to soak up hard, sudden impacts from potholes and surface breaks without transmitting that shock straight into the body, which is what keeps the tyre in contact with the road and its contact patch working instead of skipping. That control over the contact patch is what XYZ describes as the source of the car’s stability – the driver gets a chassis that turns in and holds a line predictably rather than one that’s still recovering from the last bump. The settings on this damper come directly from XYZ’s own tarmac rally programme, carried over rather than adapted from a road or circuit spec.
