XYZ Racing Pro Racing Gravel/Snow Coilovers — Mazda 323 BG (GTR) 4WD 1989-1994

The 323 GTR exists for one reason: Mazda needed a Group A homologation car, so it bolted a turbo BP engine and full-time four-wheel drive into the humble BG Familia shell and pointed it at loose surfaces. That heritage is exactly why a gravel/snow damper makes sense here in a way it never would on a road hatch. The XYZ Racing Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover is built for what this Mazda 323 BG (GTR) 4WD was homologated to do.

This is a long-travel rally and rallycross setup, not a slammed fast-road kit. It gives the BG chassis the suspension stroke and damping headroom to stay planted when the road turns to gravel, ruts or snow, and the 4WD drivetrain keeps hunting for grip.

What this coilover does for your 1989-1994 Mazda 323 BG (GTR) 4WD

The extra front and rear travel is the headline benefit on a car this light: it keeps the tyres loaded over crests, compressions and mid-corner bumps instead of unloading and letting the GTR’s all-wheel-drive system spin against nothing. The larger oil and nitrogen volume means the dampers hold their characteristic deep into a long stage, so the car still feels the same on the last corner as the first. Three-way adjustment lets you re-valve the balance for a fast gravel road one weekend and a tighter, lower-grip surface the next. On a rare 4WD platform like this, that adjustability is the difference between a museum piece and a car you actually drive in anger.

About the Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover

This damper is engineered specifically for rally and rallycross use rather than smooth circuit work. It runs noticeably longer travel at both ends, which builds in a bigger buffer distance and keeps the car stable when it lands and crests rather than bottoming out. The construction carries an increased volume of shock oil and nitrogen gas, the key design goal being thermal stability: more fluid resists the oil overheating and the damper fading after sustained hard use. Adjustment is handled by three separate knobs, working through a small oil-orifice design. One honest consequence of that small-passage design is a faint noise when the oil is forced through it over big hits. That is normal behaviour for this damper and not a fault.

Fitment for the Mazda 323 BG (GTR) 4WD (1989-1994)

This kit is built for the BG-chassis 323 in GTR four-wheel-drive form, covering the 1989-1994 production span. It is specific to the 4WD GTR drivetrain rather than the front-drive 323 variants of the same era.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. With longer travel for both front and rear, it increases bigger buffer distance to keep the car stable. The most advantages of this product is to extend the amount of suspension oil and nitrogen gas which can increase the stability of the shocks and prevent the shock oil temperature too high from being exhausted after long-term use.

Because its 3 adjustment knobs with small oil hole design, when driving through big bumps, the coilover oil will go through small passage which might cause some small noise. This is normal situation. This product is made for circuit tracks and there will be no concern for bumps on the tracks.
