XYZ Racing Gravel Rally Coilovers — Toyota SUPRA MA70 1987-1992

The Toyota Supra MA70 was built as a long-legged turbo grand tourer, not a loose-surface weapon, which is exactly why its weight and front-biased mass need a damper built for the rough. The XYZ Racing Gravel Rally coilover for the Supra MA70 is set up for gravel-stage and rallycross work, where the surface punishes everything the standard suspension was never asked to cope with.

This is the rally-specific tune in the XYZ Racing range, built around an inverted-tube damper with long stroke and long springs. The aim is straightforward: keep the rear-driven wheels loaded on sandstone, snow and silt while the chassis absorbs repeated big hits at speed.

What this coilover does for your 1987-1992 Toyota SUPRA MA70

On a loose stage the MA70’s mass works against you, and the long-stroke design gives the suspension room to soak up ruts and crests without crashing into the bump stops. The long springs hold the heavy nose up through compressions and keep the contact patch settled when the car is loaded mid-corner under high G. Inverted-tube construction places the larger-diameter, stronger tube at the top, which resists the side loads a heavy rear-drive coupe generates when it is thrown into a gravel hairpin. The result is a car that stays composed over high-speed bouncy sections instead of skating, with a back axle that can still find drive on a surface with almost no grip. The spring rates come from a setting XYZ Racing’s rally team has run and tested, so the baseline is a competition starting point rather than a guess.

About the Gravel Rally coilover

This is the most specialised damper XYZ Racing builds, aimed squarely at rally and rallycross, where the road surface is the most aggressive challenge in motorsport. The shock absorber is the single most worked component on a gravel stage, so the design leans on an inverted-tube layout to cope with constantly changing conditions: loose sandstone one moment, packed snow or fine silt the next. Long stroke and long springs are central to the concept. Together they absorb the chassis vibration of a rough stage, let the car attack high-speed undulating roads, and carry the extreme cornering loads that build when a heavy car changes direction on the limit. Every spring rate in the kit has been validated by XYZ Racing’s own rally programme rather than carried over from a road tune. For an MA70 used in anger on the loose, that travel and that tested baseline are what separate a usable rally car from a road coilover bottoming out on the first crest.

Fitment for the Toyota SUPRA MA70 (1987-1992)

This kit is built for the MA70 chassis Toyota Supra across the 1987 to 1992 model run, covering the third-generation A70 car in its front-engine, rear-drive form. Confirm your chassis code reads MA70 before ordering, as the Gravel Rally tune is specific to this platform and year span.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. In all racing events, road condition of Rally Cross is the most aggressive one. Hence, it means that the shock absorber is the most important utensil during the Rally gravel competition. We develop inverted tube design to meet each different road condition as sandstone, snow or silt. Long stroke and long spring which enable to absorb chassis vibration, aggressively attack from high speed bouncy road and bear extremely G-force when turning. All spring rate setting are tested by Rally Racing team.
