XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally Coilovers — Toyota SUPRA MA70 1987-1992

The MA70 Supra was built as a heavyweight grand tourer, its iron-block 7M-GTE straight-six and long wheelbase giving it real stability at speed but a reluctance to change direction over broken surfaces. On a sealed rally stage, that mass works against you: every crest, patched repair and kerb tries to unsettle a chassis Toyota tuned for autobahn cruising, not stage work. The XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally coilover exists to keep this car composed exactly where the standard setup runs out of travel and control.

This is a damper developed for sealed-stage tarmac rally, where the road is solid but rarely smooth. The valving soaks up sharp impacts without pitching the Supra’s nose or skating the rear, so the driven wheels stay loaded through compressions and over rough patches. For an MA70 used on stages, hillclimbs or fast, scruffy B-roads, that is the difference between a car you fight and one you can lean on.

What this coilover kit does for your 1987-1992 Toyota Supra MA70

Fit these and the first thing you notice is how much road the MA70 can absorb without losing its line. The damping is set to suppress shock travelling into the body, so a mid-corner bump no longer throws the rear of this long car off course. Because the tyres stay in firmer contact with the surface, traction off slow corners improves and braking into them feels more settled on uneven tarmac. The 7M-GTE’s torque is easier to put down when the rear axle is not skipping over ridges. Ride height and damping adjustment let you set the car for the stage or road in front of you instead of accepting one factory compromise, and the added stability makes a heavy, fast coupe far more predictable when you push it.

About the Tarmac Rally coilover

XYZ Racing builds the Tarmac Rally damper specifically to cope with the impacts of uneven pavement that define a sealed stage. Where a circuit-biased coilover prioritises flat, smooth tarmac, this one is valved to absorb the jolt of a big bump or kerb strike and feed it into the chassis as controlled movement rather than a violent shock. The aim is twofold: keep the body settled so the driver can read the car, and keep the tyre pressed into the road so it keeps generating grip. The result is a damper that holds vehicle stability across surfaces that would have a stiffer setup bouncing and scrabbling for traction. XYZ Racing draws these settings directly from its own Tarmac Rally competition experience, so the baseline valving reflects what has worked on real stages rather than a generic catalogue tune. For the MA70 Supra, that means a coilover that respects the car’s weight and length instead of fighting them.

Fitment for the Toyota Supra MA70 (1987-1992)

This kit is built for the MA70 chassis Toyota Supra produced from 1987 to 1992, the turbocharged 7M-GTE third-generation car. Confirm your chassis code reads MA70 before ordering, as the platform shared showrooms with naturally aspirated A70 variants that carry different codes.
