XYZ Racing Gravel Rally Coilovers — Toyota GR86 2021-2026

Drop a GR86 onto a loose stage and the FA24 boxer’s low centre of gravity starts paying dividends – but only if the dampers can keep the tyres loaded over washboard surfaces. The XYZ Racing Gravel Rally coilover for the Toyota GR86 is built for exactly that: long-travel, inverted-tube units made to soak up sandstone, snow and silt without unsettling a chassis that already likes to rotate on a trailing throttle.

This is the rally-specific end of the XYZ Racing range, not a lowered fast-road kit pressed into stage duty. Where the GR86’s standard suspension runs out of stroke the moment the surface turns hostile, this Gravel Rally setup is engineered around the abuse of rallycross and loose-surface stages, the most punishing brief XYZ builds a damper for.

What this coilover does for your 2021-2026 Toyota GR86

The headline gain on a 2021-2026 Toyota GR86 is travel. The long-stroke damper and long springs give the wheels room to follow a broken surface instead of skipping across it, which keeps drive going down on corner exit where a stiff tarmac coilover would simply hop. Because the FA24 sits low and the car is light, that extra compliance does not turn into wallow: the boxer’s mass stays planted and the rear axle keeps the predictable, adjustable slip angle GR86 drivers chase on gravel. The inverted-tube layout puts the larger, stronger tube up top where stone strikes and side loads are worst, so the unit shrugs off the lateral G of a fast loose-surface corner. Spring rates are chosen for grip and chassis control on dirt, so the car squats and works rather than crashing through its travel.

About the Gravel Rally coilover

XYZ developed the Gravel Rally coilover specifically for rally racing and rallycross, where the surface is the most aggressive in motorsport and the damper becomes the single most important component on the car. The construction centres on an inverted-tube design chosen to cope with wildly different conditions – sandstone on one stage, snow on the next, deep silt after that. Long stroke and long springs are the defining features: they let the suspension absorb the constant chassis vibration of a rough stage, attack high-speed bouncy sections without deflecting off line, and carry the extreme cornering G that loose-surface driving loads into the suspension. Every spring rate offered has been validated by XYZ’s own rally racing team rather than calculated on paper, so the baseline settings reflect what actually works on a stage. It is a focused tool, a damper made to survive and perform where road coilovers would overheat, top out, or break.

Fitment for the Toyota GR86 (2021-2026)

This kit is cut for the second-generation Toyota GR86 (chassis code TO35-2), covering the 2021 to 2026 model years. It is a direct-fit application for that chassis – confirm your car falls inside the 2021-2026 GR86 range before configuring. The fitment is specific to the GR86 platform and its front strut and rear suspension geometry.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. In all racing events, road condition of Rally Cross is the most aggressive one. Hence, it means that the shock absorber is the most important utensil during the Rally gravel competition. We develop inverted tube design to meet each different road condition as sandstone, snow or silt. Long stroke and long spring which enable to absorb chassis vibration, aggressively attack from high speed bouncy road and bear extremely G-force when turning. All spring rate setting are tested by Rally Racing team.

Every XYZ Racing coilover kit ships with the upper mounts listed below for your exact chassis — no extra parts to source.

  • Pillow ball + rubber top mountPillow ball + rubberP+Pillow-ball upper with a rubber insert — adds steering precision and camber adjustability while keeping some of the factory mount’s harshness damping.
  • Hardened rubber top mountHardened rubberRHardened rubber upper — firmer than the factory bush for tighter response while retaining road-friendly noise and vibration isolation.
  • Aluminium top mountAluminiumAAluminium upper mount — a stiff, lightweight housing that locates the damper precisely and resists flex under load.
