XYZ Racing Drag Racing Coilovers — Toyota GR86 2021-2026

The ZN8 GR86’s FA24D flat-four sits low in the engine bay and back from the front axle, which is part of what makes this 2021-onwards platform so composed on circuit. On the drag strip, that same architecture creates a specific challenge: under hard launch load, the rear squats sharply, the nose rises, and unless the suspension is calibrated to manage the speed and extent of that weight transfer, the rear tyres will spin before they transmit properly.

XYZ Racing’s Drag Racing coilovers are built for exactly that scenario. Covering RWD, FWD, and four-wheel drive platforms for 0-400m competition, the kit allows front-to-rear height adjustment so the weight bias can be set before the launch – putting load on the driven wheels from the moment the run begins.

What this coilover does for your 2021-2026 Toyota GR86

On the GR86’s rear-wheel drive layout, the drag run is decided at the 60-foot mark. The kit allows independent ride height adjustment front and rear, so you can establish a rearward weight bias before the car has moved. Under launch load, the Drag Racing coilover forces greater compression through the rear contact patch, shortening the window in which the driven tyres are spinning rather than transmitting. At the top end of the run, where the GR86’s short wheelbase can make the car feel light and reactive, the suspension geometry maintains directional stability rather than demanding constant driver correction. For a naturally aspirated drivetrain that delivers its power linearly without a turbo spike to manage, run-to-run consistency is a product of suspension behaviour, not engine calibration.

About the Drag Racing coilover

The XYZ Racing Drag Racing series is designed for 0-400m strip competition across front-, rear-, and four-wheel drive layouts. The engineering premise centres on the instant of launch: forcing greater compression through the driven tyres at the point of maximum load, rather than allowing them to spin up, idle, and recover. Front and rear height can be adjusted independently, so the weight distribution can be matched to the specific drivetrain layout and launch technique of the car in question. At speed, the construction holds the vehicle stable under aerodynamic and mechanical load. Spring rates and damper character are chosen for the high-load demands of a launch, not the repetitive damping cycles of circuit use.

Fitment for the Toyota GR86 (2021-2026)

This kit is configured for the second-generation Toyota GR86, chassis code TO35-2, covering production years 2021 to 2026. The fitment is specific to the ZN8-platform GR86 and should not be assumed interchangeable with the first-generation GT86 or with the Subaru BRZ without separate verification.

The coilovers are specially designed for 0~400 drag racing such as FWD, RWD or 4WD models. The setting allows vehicle to change the front and rear weight according to the transmission wheel in instant driving, and force the transmission tire having greater compression, which can reduce the idle time of wheel and improve the stability of the vehicle under high speed.

Top mounts included with your kit

Every XYZ Racing coilover kit ships with the upper mounts listed below for your exact chassis — no extra parts to source.

Front

  • Pillow ball + rubber top mountPillow ball + rubberP+Pillow-ball upper with a rubber insert — adds steering precision and camber adjustability while keeping some of the factory mount’s harshness damping.
  • Hardened rubber top mountHardened rubberRHardened rubber upper — firmer than the factory bush for tighter response while retaining road-friendly noise and vibration isolation.

Rear

  • Aluminium top mountAluminiumAAluminium upper mount — a stiff, lightweight housing that locates the damper precisely and resists flex under load.
