XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally Coilovers — Toyota CAMRY XV10 (TYPE 2) 1992-1996

The XV10 Camry was built to isolate, not to communicate – soft springs, long-travel damping and a nose-heavy front-drive layout tuned for motorway refinement rather than a closed special stage. The XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally coilover takes that same wide-body saloon and rebuilds its responses for sealed-stage rallying, where the surface is grippy but broken, kerbs are part of the line, and the car has to stay composed over mid-corner ruts.

This is a damper developed specifically for tarmac rally work, not a lowered fast-road spring kit pressed into service. The valving is set to soak up sharp impacts – drain covers, patched tarmac, the lip of a chicane – while keeping the heavy 1992-1996 Camry settled between corners so the front tyres keep biting.

What these coilovers do for your 1992-1996 Toyota Camry XV10 (type 2)

On a standard XV10 the front end washes wide the moment you load it over a crest, and the soft rear lets the back move around unpredictably when the road surface changes. These coilovers bring the spring and damper rates up to a level the chassis can actually use, so the front axle holds its line under braking and the car rotates on throttle instead of ploughing. Over the broken tarmac that defines a sealed stage, the impact-absorbing valving keeps the contact patch loaded, so the tyre stays planted where the factory setup would skip and scrub. The payoff is a weighty front-drive saloon that finally reports what its front tyres are doing, with enough body control to commit to a kerb without the chassis crashing through to the bump stops.

About the Tarmac Rally coilover

XYZ Racing builds the Tarmac Rally coilover around a single brief: keep the tyre in contact with a surface that is grippy but rarely smooth. The damping is engineered to absorb the impact of uneven pavement, soaking up the jolt of a big bump or a kerb strike and suppressing the shock that would otherwise be fed into the bodyshell. By controlling how that energy is dissipated, the damper keeps the loaded tyre pressed into the road, which is where the extra traction on a stage comes from. The settings are not theoretical – they are drawn directly from XYZ Racing’s own tarmac rally programme, where the goal is stability across a full stage rather than one flat-out lap. That composure is what makes the car predictable when the grip and the surface shift under you in the middle of a corner. For a 1990s saloon like the Camry, it is a complete rethink of how the suspension handles a rough, high-grip surface.

Fitment for the Toyota Camry XV10 (type 2) (1992-1996)

This kit is built specifically for the XV10 (type 2) Camry, chassis code TO11, covering the 1992 to 1996 model years. Confirm your car sits inside that year span and carries the XV10 platform before ordering, as the wide-body XV10 differs from the earlier and later Camry generations.
