XYZ Racing Gravel Rally Coilovers — Toyota ALTEZZA 1998-2005

The Altezza was Toyota’s rear-drive answer to the compact sports saloon – a near-balanced chassis sold elsewhere as the Lexus IS, with the revvy 3S-GE in RS200 form and the 2JZ-GE straight-six under the AS300. That rear-wheel-drive layout is exactly what makes it interesting on a loose surface, and exactly what a gravel-spec damper has to keep planted when the road turns to sandstone, silt or snow.

The XYZ Racing Gravel Rally coilover is built for that environment specifically: gravel stages and rallycross, where the surface punishes a road damper within a single stage. This is the long-travel, long-spring end of the XYZ range, set up to soak up impacts and keep a tail-happy RWD car pointing where you aimed it.

What this coilover does for your 1998-2005 Toyota Altezza

On gravel, the Altezza’s RWD balance is a gift and a liability – rotation comes easily, but only if the rear axle keeps contact over broken ground. The long stroke here lets the wheels track into ruts and over crests instead of skipping across them, so traction stays predictable when you load the chassis mid-corner. The long, softer-than-tarmac springs absorb the constant hammering of a bouncy high-speed section rather than transmitting every hit into the shell. Rally-derived spring rates give you a usable window of grip across the surfaces the Altezza will actually see, and the inverted strut design adds the bending stiffness a saloon this size needs once it is fully loaded into a turn.

About the Gravel Rally coilover

This is a damper engineered around the single hardest discipline for a shock absorber – rallycross and gravel-stage rally, where surface conditions are the most aggressive in motorsport. XYZ Racing uses an inverted tube design so the unit can be tuned to cope with the full spread of loose surfaces, from sandstone to snow to silt. The defining traits are stroke and spring length: enough travel and enough spring to absorb sustained chassis vibration, to attack a fast, undulating road without bottoming out, and to carry extreme cornering G-force without losing composure. Every spring rate offered has been validated by an XYZ Racing rally team rather than calculated on a bench, which is what separates a genuine gravel setup from a lowered road kit pressed into stage duty.

Fitment for the Toyota Altezza (1998-2005)

This kit is matched to the Toyota Altezza, chassis code TO04, across the full 1998 to 2005 production run. It suits the rear-drive Altezza platform in its gravel and rallycross application. Confirm your exact variant against the configurator before ordering so the spring and damper spec lines up with your build.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. In all racing events, road condition of Rally Cross is the most aggressive one. Hence, it means that the shock absorber is the most important utensil during the Rally gravel competition. We develop inverted tube design to meet each different road condition as sandstone, snow or silt. Long stroke and long spring which enable to absorb chassis vibration, aggressively attack from high speed bouncy road and bear extremely G-force when turning. All spring rate setting are tested by Rally Racing team.
