XYZ Racing Racing Spec Coilovers — Porsche 997 CARRERA-2/S (Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping) 2005-2011

The 997’s rear-engine weight bias – approximately 38/62 front-to-rear, a figure more extreme than almost any other production sports car in regular track use – defines the suspension calibration challenge more than any other single characteristic of the chassis. Trail braking into a tight corner, that rear mass becomes a pendulum; set the rear springs wrong and the car is reactive rather than responsive. These XYZ Racing Racing Spec coilovers, supplied with a PASM cancellation kit, replace the factory electronic dampers with a system whose settings were derived directly from WTCC competition participation.

The electronic damping deletion is not incidental. PASM on the 997 Carrera S operates within a window set for road use, and its constant intervention can mask the rear balance that actually needs tuning for a specific circuit. Replacing the PASM hardware with a fully mechanical coilover removes that layer entirely – the chassis then responds to what the driver and setup engineer put in, consistently and without electronic mediation.

What this coilover does for your 2005-2011 Porsche 997 CARRERA-2/S

On the Carrera 2, removing the electronic damping variable exposes the 997’s rear-engine balance in its purest form – and the Racing Spec’s adjustment range lets you work with that balance deliberately rather than around it. The rear axle on the 911 architecture rewards careful spring rate matching to how the rear mass behaves through the braking zone, and the adjustability here covers both road-to-track transition use and full circuit configurations. Carrera S owners get the 3.8-litre flat-six’s additional torque loading the rear axle harder on corner exit, particularly through tighter hairpin sequences, which changes the demand on the rear damper versus the base 3.6-litre. With PASM out of the picture there are no conflicting sensor inputs interfering with the mechanical setup – what you configure is what the car runs.

About the Racing Spec coilover

XYZ Racing’s Racing Spec is the brand’s top-tier motorsport coilover, developed for serious track and time-attack use rather than road-biased applications. The calibration data underpinning this kit did not come from simulation or interpolation from road car data – the settings were obtained through direct participation in WTCC racing events, which means the damper behaviour reflects what a professional competition programme demands under actual race load cycles. For 997s carrying significant modifications beyond factory specification – engine rebuilds, aero packages, slick-legal tyre compounds – XYZ Racing extends a custom shock absorber service specifically for these cases. Owners supply detailed information on all upgraded components and the circuit they intend to run, and the factory produces a unit calibrated to that exact combination. The 997 kit includes all hardware required for a clean PASM system deletion alongside the Racing Spec dampers themselves.

Fitment for the Porsche 997 CARRERA-2/S (2005-2011)

This kit is built for the Porsche 997 platform (chassis code PO04-C), covering the Carrera 2 and Carrera S in production from 2005 through 2011. The PASM cancellation hardware is included and handles electronic damping deletion on cars equipped with that system from the factory. Base Carrera 2 models not ordered with optional PASM do not require the cancellation components, though they are present in the kit.

Top mounts included with your kit

Every XYZ Racing coilover kit ships with the upper mounts listed below for your exact chassis — no extra parts to source.

  • Pillow ball top mountPillow ballPSolid pillow-ball (spherical bearing) upper — chosen for rigidity and precise camber adjustment, the sharpest steering response of the options.
  • Aluminium top mountAluminiumAAluminium upper mount — a stiff, lightweight housing that locates the damper precisely and resists flex under load.
