XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally Coilovers — Porsche 997 CARRERA-2/S (Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping) 2005-2011

The 997 Carrera carries roughly 60 per cent of its weight at the rear – a proportion that defines every handling compromise on a tarmac stage. That rearward bias gives the platform its signature mid-corner composure, but it also means large, isolated bumps hit the driven axle first. When the rear loads suddenly over a crest or deteriorating surface, recovery time narrows sharply. Suspension that absorbs that input rather than transmitting it keeps the 997’s rear axle under the car when the road stops being predictable.

On 997 Carreras fitted with PASM – Porsche’s electronically controlled damping system – fitting passive coilovers requires more than hardware. Running the XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally kit on a PASM-equipped car means cancelling the factory electronic system cleanly, and the kit includes everything needed to do that without fault codes or conflicting damping inputs.

What this coilover does for your 2005-2011 Porsche 997 Carrera-2/S

The Tarmac Rally’s damping absorbs the sharp jolts that characterise real tarmac stage conditions – surfaces that look smooth at recce pace but break up under competitive loads. On the 997, that matters most at the rear axle, where sudden vertical input can unsettle the weight distribution and break rear traction without warning. By managing body movement through large compressions, the kit keeps the contact patch loaded rather than bouncing, maintaining the rear-wheel-drive traction that stage work demands. Stability through broken sections improves, and the car holds its handling balance in conditions where a poorly damped rear-engine chassis becomes actively difficult to place.

About the Tarmac Rally coilover

XYZ Racing’s Tarmac Rally coilover is designed specifically for sealed-stage tarmac competition – not road driving, not track days. The damper absorbs the impact of uneven pavement and handles large isolated bumps without transmitting the jolt through to the chassis, suppressing body movement that would otherwise compromise traction. Settings across the Tarmac Rally range come from XYZ Racing’s own tarmac rally experience, calibrated for competition conditions rather than derived from a road-car base. Tyre contact is treated as the primary output: the damper’s job is to keep the tyre on the road through compressions and crests, not merely to limit body roll. For the 997 Carrera-2/S coilover application, the kit addresses the rear-engine-specific demand for rapid bump absorption on a driven axle – a requirement no road-focused unit is optimised for.

Fitment for the Porsche 997 Carrera-2/S (2005-2011)

This kit is engineered for the Porsche 997 Carrera-2 and Carrera-2/S (chassis code PO04-C), covering model years 2005 to 2011. The PASM cancellation hardware is included, handling the electrical interface required to run passive coilovers on cars equipped with Porsche’s factory electronic damping. Confirm PASM fitment on your specific car before ordering.
