XYZ Racing Top Sport Coilovers — Porsche 997 CARRERA-2/S (Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping) 2005-2011

PASM – Porsche’s Active Suspension Management system – was sophisticated engineering for its time, reading steering angle, lateral g and throttle position to adjust damping electronically. It works well on a public road. At a circuit, where the driver has committed to a consistent line and wants the car’s response to be mechanical and fixed, the adaptive system becomes a variable in the equation rather than a constant. The XYZ Racing Top Sport coilover kit for the 997 Carrera-2/S replaces PASM entirely, and includes the cancellation hardware to prevent the 997’s ECU from logging a fault or pulling capability in response.

Most 997 Carrera-2/S owners drive to a track day rather than trailer to one, which shapes the brief here. The Top Sport sits between a street-biased setup and full circuit specification – firm enough for a lap to feel purposeful, compliant enough for the motorway home to remain tolerable.

What this coilover does for your 2005-2011 Porsche 997 CARRERA-2/S

The 997’s rear-engine layout creates a pendulum effect under hard braking and turn-in that is extremely sensitive to changes in body control. With the XYZ Racing Top Sport’s damping running 30-50% firmer than a standard street tune, the 997’s body movement is held tighter through high-load corners – which keeps rear-axle loading more consistent and makes the car’s limit behaviour more readable. Stiffer spring rates mean that mid-corner crests and kerb strikes don’t produce the lateral body deflection that the factory PASM maps, calibrated for road comfort, permit without much resistance. Tyre contact patch improves with the better-controlled body attitude, and traction follows.

About the Top Sport coilover

XYZ Racing’s Top Sport specification runs damping approximately 30-50% firmer than a street-biased coilover, with spring rates set around 2kg/mm above an equivalent street baseline. That combination gives the suspension enough authority to suppress body movement across uneven surfaces at pace and absorb kerb strikes and large road joints without deflecting the car off line, while retaining sufficient travel for daily use without the rigidity of a full circuit kit. The calibration draws on XYZ Racing’s motorsport programme, with each tune developed through track testing. The result is a coilover that handles the transition from road to circuit without demanding a setup change between sessions – suited to the aggressive driving style the 997 Carrera-2/S naturally invites, and to the track-day calendar that most owners of this chassis maintain.

Fitment for the Porsche 997 CARRERA-2/S (2005-2011)

This kit is built for the Porsche 997 Carrera-2 and Carrera-2 S, chassis code PO04-C, covering the production run from 2005 to 2011. The PASM cancellation hardware is included and is required for cars fitted with Porsche Active Suspension Management – standard equipment on the Carrera S and an available option on the Carrera-2 across the full 997 generation.

By increasing 30~50% damping or 2kg/mm spring rate than street setting; it can absorb the impact of uneven pavement. It is able to absorb the jolt when across a big bumps, effectively suppress shock body and to increase tire’s traction. Vehicle stability makes you can experience perfect handling. All the settings from our Top Sport racing experience. It is suitable for track day and aggressive driving.
