XYZ Racing Racing Spec Coilovers — Mercedes-Benz S CLASS W222 (NON MBC hydraulic or 4WD) (Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping) 2014-2020

The W222 S-Class was engineered around Airmatic and, in higher trims, Magic Body Control – a chassis philosophy built on air springs and forward-scanning electronic damping. Stripping that out in favour of a true coilover is not a casual modification; it is a deliberate move by an owner who wants a pillarless saloon that handles like a sports car rather than a flagship limousine. This Racing Spec kit is built for exactly that owner.

XYZ Racing’s Racing Spec sits at the firmer end of the road-legal range, intended for a W222 destined for serious B-road driving, the occasional track day, or a slammed show stance with damping that still controls a 2.1-tonne body. The included cancellation kit is the critical piece: it suppresses the factory ECU’s fault codes once the Airmatic or electronic dampers are removed, so the dash stays clean and ride-height calibration is no longer fighting the new hardware.

What this coilover does for your 2014-2020 Mercedes Benz S Class W222 (NON MBC Hydraulic Or 4WD) (cancellation Kit For Electronic Damping)

Switching a W222 from air to coilover changes the car’s character immediately. Body roll on turn-in tightens up, the nose stops floating over compressions on a fast A-road, and the rear axle stays planted under throttle out of long sweepers – the kind of composure the standard air system smooths over rather than resolves. With Racing Spec damping, you get the firmer spring rates needed to hold a long-wheelbase saloon flat, paired with adjustment range that lets you soften things off for a motorway cruise. Ride height drops cleanly without the awkward sagging stance that owners get from cutting springs or hacking the Airmatic. Most usefully, deleting the air system removes a known long-term failure point on ageing W222s – cracked struts and tired compressors are the reason a lot of these cars come up for sale in the first place.

About the Racing Spec coilover

Racing Spec is XYZ’s track-leaning tune within the road-usable range. The damper bodies are monotube with independent compression and rebound adjustment, giving you a wide window to set the car for circuit work without locking yourself out of street use. Spring rates are pitched higher than the Super Sport tier to keep a heavy executive saloon disciplined under load, and ride-height adjustment is independent of preload so you can drop the car without binding the spring. The kit ships with the electronic damping cancellation module wired specifically for the W222 chassis, which is what makes this a clean install rather than a code-throwing compromise. Pillowball top mounts on the front handle steering response and camber adjustment in one component.
