XYZ Racing Circuit Master Coilovers — Mazda COSMO 13B/20B ROTARY 1990-1996

The JC Cosmo is one of the most unusual GTs Mazda ever built – a 2+2 grand tourer riding on the same rear-drive bones that would underpin the FD RX-7, but softened deliberately for cross-country comfort. That factory bias toward compliance is exactly what makes a serious coilover such a transformative upgrade: the chassis is willing, the geometry is sound, and the standard dampers are simply tuned for a different brief.

The XYZ Racing Circuit Master coilover is the kit you fit when you want the Cosmo to behave like the rotary-powered weapon it always could have been. It hauls the ride height down, controls the weight transfer the standard struts let run loose, and gives the 13B-RE or 20B-REW chassis the body control to use the boost.

What this coilover does for your 1990-1996 Mazda COSMO 13B/20B ROTARY

Drop the Cosmo onto the Circuit Master and the first thing you feel is the car settling earlier. Mid-corner pitch on the standard setup masks how much grip is actually available; with proper damping over each axle, the front end starts taking commitment that the original chassis tune deliberately filtered out. Adjustable damping lets you separate slow-speed body control from high-speed compliance, so the car can still cover ground on poor UK B-roads without becoming brittle. Spring and ride-height adjustment let you correct the slightly nose-up factory stance that does the rotary’s centre-of-gravity no favours. Under braking into a circuit corner, the front no longer dives onto its bump stops – which matters on a heavy GT with a twin-turbo block sitting low and forward.

About the Circuit Master coilover

Circuit Master sits in the XYZ Racing range as the dedicated track-biased option, separate from the road-focused Super Sport and the more extreme Drag and Rally builds. Construction is monotube, with pillowball top mounts where the application allows for direct, unfiltered damper feedback to the chassis. Damping is independently adjustable, so compression and rebound can be tuned around the spring rate and the weight of the rotary drivetrain rather than left as a single compromise click. Ride height adjusts on the lower bracket rather than by winding down the spring perch, preserving useful shock stroke – critical on a heavy chassis like the JC where dropping height on the spring would otherwise eat travel and put the car on its bump stops. The whole assembly is rebuildable and revalveable, which on a car this rare matters more than on a mass-market platform.

Fitment for the Mazda COSMO 13B/20B ROTARY (1990-1996)

Built specifically for the JC-platform Eunos Cosmo, MA20 chassis, covering the 1990-1996 production run. This is the full-fat 13B-RE twin-turbo and 20B-REW three-rotor JDM GT – a car that almost never appears in generic coilover fitment tables, so the fact that this kit exists at all is the point.
