XYZ Racing Drift Spec Coilovers — Mazda COSMO 13B/20B ROTARY 1990-1996

The JC Cosmo is a strange and brilliant thing – a hand-built Eunos flagship with a twin-turbo triple-rotor 20B (or the twin-turbo 13B in lesser cars), riding on a long wheelbase and weighing the wrong side of 1.5 tonnes. The factory suspension was tuned for hushed grand-touring, and after 30 years most surviving cars sag, wallow, and feel every join in the road. That is the chassis these XYZ Racing Drift Spec coilovers are built to wake up.

Drift Spec is the stiffest end of the XYZ ladder for a reason. On a heavy, rear-drive rotary GT with the 20B’s torque curve coming on hard, you want a damper that controls weight transfer aggressively and a spring rate that lets the rear step out predictably when you ask it to.

What this coilover does for your 1990-1996 Mazda COSMO 13B/20B ROTARY

The Drift Spec rebuilds the JC Cosmo’s chassis from the corners in. Stiffer spring rates and high-pressure monotube dampers stop the long body floating over crests and pitching under brakes – both habits that make a standard Cosmo feel its age the moment the road tightens. Independent 30-step bump and rebound adjustment means you can run a tighter compression setting for circuit days without making the kerbs unbearable on the drive home. The ride-height adjusters let you drop the nose to fix the slightly dumpy factory rake without compromising on travel, and the pillowball top mounts sharpen turn-in – a real benefit on a car with this much overhang ahead of the front axle.

About the Drift Spec coilover

XYZ Racing’s Drift Spec sits at the high-rate, high-control end of the range. Construction is full monotube with high-pressure nitrogen gas to keep the damper fade-free under sustained heat, and the bodies are hard-anodised aluminium to resist British winter salt. Bump and rebound are split across 30 clicks each, so compression and rebound can be set independently – genuinely useful when you are trying to balance a heavy GT chassis rather than a featherweight hatch. Spring rates are picked for drift and circuit use, which on the JC Cosmo translates to a noticeably planted rear and a much sharper front. Camber-adjustable pillowball tops are standard at the front. The kit is fully rebuildable and re-vavlable, which matters on a 30-year-old platform you intend to keep.

Fitment for the Mazda COSMO 13B/20B ROTARY (1990-1996)

Built for the JC-series Eunos Cosmo, chassis code MA20, covering both the 13B-REW twin-turbo and the rarer 20B-REW triple-rotor cars from 1990 through to the end of production in 1996. No factory adjustable-suspension variant existed for this chassis – this is a full strut and shock replacement.

This suspension is designed for Drift race especially. With its special design, it helps the racers stabilize the vehicle body while in high speed turning in order to make a perfect angle. It can also enhance drifting performance. After lowing the ride height with proper bump stroke, you will realize how we made the drift controlling to the excellent condition.
