XYZ Racing Drift Spec Coilovers — Maserati Quattroporte M139 2003-2012

The M139 Quattroporte carries nearly two tonnes of Modena saloon on a long wheelbase, with a front-mid-mounted 4.2 or 4.7-litre V8 sitting behind the front axle line and a transaxle gearbox slung over the rear. That mass distribution is the whole story when you start changing its springs and dampers – the car wants to roll into long corners on its outside-front, and the standard Skyhook setup masks rather than solves it.

The XYZ Racing Drift Spec coilover is built for owners who want to take that chassis somewhere the factory never intended: sideways, predictably, with adjustable height and damping to suit a private circuit or drift day.

What this coilover does for your 2003-2012 Maserati Quattroporte

Drift Spec valving runs firmer rebound than a fast-road kit, which is what keeps a heavy rear-driven saloon from settling lazily mid-slide and pulling itself straight against your steering input. On the M139 specifically that matters: with a transaxle and a 49/51 weight split, the rear axle has more authority than people expect, and you want damper control that can hold a yaw angle without the body pitching back onto the front tyres. 36-way damping adjustment lets you separate the road-to-circuit setting from the lock-stop drift entry setting, and adjustable lower mounts let you drop ride height without crushing bump travel.

Spring rates are stiffer than the Circuit Master, and the camber-adjustable front top mounts give you the negative front camber you need once the car is on grippier tyres than the factory Pirelli P Zeros.

About the Drift Spec coilover

The Drift Spec is a monotube design with a separate piston and shim stack tuned for the higher slip-angle, higher-shock-event use case that competitive drifting puts through a damper. Construction is the same XYZ Racing platform as the rest of the catalogue – steel body, threaded lower for ride-height adjustment, pillowball top mounts where the chassis permits, and 36 clicks of combined bump-and-rebound adjustment on a single knob.

Spring rates are specified for drift use rather than circuit lap times, which means a firmer baseline than the Super Sport but with the rebound bias that keeps the car planted through transitions. The kit is supplied with front camber plates where the M139’s strut geometry allows it, and the rear lower mounts give a wider range of ride-height drop than the OEM Skyhook setup.

Fitment for the Maserati Quattroporte (2003-2012)

This kit fits the M139 generation Quattroporte across the production run, covering both the 4.2 V8 (2003-2008) and the 4.7 V8 Sport GT S variants up to the 2012 model-year changeover. The Skyhook adaptive damping system is removed entirely with this installation – the Drift Spec is a fully mechanical coilover and does not interface with the factory electronic damper control module.

This suspension is designed for Drift race especially. With its special design, it helps the racers stabilize the vehicle body while in high speed turning in order to make a perfect angle. It can also enhance drifting performance. After lowing the ride height with proper bump stroke, you will realize how we made the drift controlling to the excellent condition.
