XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally Coilovers — Maserati Quattroporte M139 2003-2012

The M139 Quattroporte is a 1,930kg luxury saloon with a front-mid-mounted Ferrari-derived V8 and a transaxle gearbox – a weight distribution that flatters the chassis on a flowing B-road but punishes the factory dampers the moment the surface turns. Owners of these cars in 2026 are running them harder than Modena ever intended, and the standard Skyhook setup was never built to be rebuilt indefinitely.

The XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally coilover is the right answer when the original electronic dampers have given up and a like-for-like replacement costs more than the car is worth. It swaps a depreciating, sealed-for-life system for a serviceable, height-adjustable, rebound-and-bump-tunable platform that can be set firm enough for a stage rally surface or wound back for road use.

What this coilover does for your 2003-2012 Maserati Quattroporte M139

On an M139 the Tarmac Rally setup transforms the car’s relationship with mid-corner bumps – the area the Skyhook system handled gracefully when new and atrociously when worn. Adjustable damping lets you compensate for the Quattroporte’s heft over a crested apex without resorting to the brittle ride that aftermarket lowering springs alone deliver. Ride-height adjustment recovers the stance the factory air-free suspension loses over a decade of sag, and the rebuildable cartridge construction means the next service interval is a strip and re-shim rather than a four-figure replacement. For an owner keeping a 4.2 or 4.7 V8 saloon on UK roads long-term, that serviceability matters more than any single spec number.

About the Tarmac Rally coilover

The Tarmac Rally is XYZ Racing’s sealed-tarmac-stage damper, built around a monotube body with separate compression and rebound circuits and an external reservoir on applications that warrant it. Spring rates are matched to the chassis’s mass and weight bias rather than lifted from a generic catalogue, which on a transaxle saloon like the M139 means rear rates that don’t unsettle the car under throttle and front rates that resist the dive a 4.2-litre nose generates under heavy braking. Construction uses hardened steel bodies with corrosion-resistant plating – relevant for a car that will see UK winter salt. Damping is independently adjustable across a usable range, so the same kit serves a Sunday-morning road setting and a sprint or hillclimb setting without changing hardware.

Fitment for the Maserati Quattroporte M139 (2003-2012)

This kit is configured for the M139-chassis Quattroporte across the full 2003 to 2012 production run, covering both the 4.2 V8 (M139 AA) and the post-2008 4.7 V8 cars. Strut and damper geometry is specific to the M139 platform – this is not a shared fitment with the later M156.
