XYZ Racing Gravel Rally Coilovers — Maserati Quattroporte M139 2003-2012

The M139 Quattroporte is a near-two-tonne luxury saloon with a Ferrari-derived 4.2 or 4.7 V8 hung ahead of the front axle, and that mass tells on a loose surface. Soft factory damping that flatters a motorway cruise turns into pitch, dive and squat the moment the road turns to gravel, forestry track or broken back-road tarmac. The XYZ Racing Gravel Rally coilover is built for owners who actually use the M139 on surfaces it was never sold for – rally-style stages, gravel sprints, or simply rough rural roads where the standard car runs out of wheel travel.

This is the long-travel, soft-compound end of the XYZ Racing range. Spring rates and damping are tuned for grip on loose surfaces rather than apex-perfect tarmac body control, with the ride-height range raised to lift the sills clear of ruts.

What this coilover does for your 2003-2012 Maserati Quattroporte

Longer stroke gives the front wheels somewhere to go when the surface drops away beneath them, which is the single biggest reason a fast-road or track-spec coilover fails on gravel. The 36-way adjustable damping lets you slacken rebound for compliance on washboard sections, then firm it back up for fast sweeping stages. Ride height comes up rather than down, protecting the sumps and exhaust on a car that already runs low at the nose. Independent spring-perch adjustment means corner-weighting an asymmetric V8 saloon is straightforward, and pillow-ball top mounts sharpen steering response so the heavy nose actually answers small inputs.

About the Gravel Rally coilover

The Gravel Rally is a monotube, externally-reservoir-ready coilover designed for high-speed compliance on loose surfaces. Springs are wound at lower rates than the tarmac-biased Circuit Master and Super Sport variants in the XYZ range, and the damper internals are valved for larger, slower shaft movements typical of gravel stages. Ride-height adjustment is independent of preload, so you can raise the car for ground clearance without compromising the spring’s working window. Construction is full-length threaded steel-bodied with hardened damper rods, and the unit accepts replacement seals and oil through XYZ’s standard service network when the car comes back covered in stage dust.

Fitment for the Maserati Quattroporte (2003-2012)

This kit fits the M139-chassis Quattroporte across the 2003-2012 production run, covering both the 4.2 V8 and the later 4.7 V8 cars. Confirm chassis code M139 on your V5 before ordering – the GranTurismo-based M156 Quattroporte that followed uses a different platform.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. In all racing events, road condition of Rally Cross is the most aggressive one. Hence, it means that the shock absorber is the most important utensil during the Rally gravel competition. We develop inverted tube design to meet each different road condition as sandstone, snow or silt. Long stroke and long spring which enable to absorb chassis vibration, aggressively attack from high speed bouncy road and bear extremely G-force when turning. All spring rate setting are tested by Rally Racing team.
