XYZ Racing Racing Spec Coilovers — Maserati Quattroporte M139 2003-2012

The M139 Quattroporte is a 1,930kg luxury saloon riding on a transaxle V8 chassis that was tuned in Modena for ride composure first and body control second. The factory damping reads beautifully on a smooth A-road and then runs out of ideas the moment the surface breaks up or the driver leans on it. The XYZ Racing Racing Spec coilover is built for owners who want to keep the long-bonnet GT character but stop the nose from floating and the rear from squatting under the 4.2 V8’s torque.

This is the circuit-leaning end of the XYZ range, so expect a firmer baseline than the Super Sport. On a Quattroporte that translates to a car that finally turns in on its outside-front contact patch instead of leaning past it.

What this coilover does for your 2003-2012 Maserati Quattroporte

You get adjustable damping, ride-height adjustment independent of spring preload, and a spring rate stiff enough to control the M139’s mass without battering the cabin into submission. The 30-way damping range means you can run the dampers softer on UK B-roads, then wind them up for a track day at Bedford or Anglesey without touching ride height. Turn-in sharpens noticeably because the front axle stops diving on brake application, which on a nose-heavy V8 saloon is where most of the lost time lives. Squat under power on corner exit drops away, so the rear tyres stay loaded rather than scrabbling for grip when the auto-box kicks down. Lowering the car 25-40mm also cleans up the visual stance the standard air-assisted setup never quite delivered.

About the Racing Spec coilover

Racing Spec is XYZ’s circuit-focused tier, sitting above Super Sport and below Super Racing in the catalogue. Construction is a full monotube damper body with a separate spring perch, so corner-weighting and ride-height adjustment are decoupled. The 30-click damping adjuster runs both bump and rebound on a single knob, which is the right call for a heavy GT where you want predictable, repeatable changes rather than independent bump/rebound complexity. Spring rates on this application are matched to the M139’s front-mid V8 weight distribution rather than carried over from a generic chassis. Pillowball top mounts on the front replace the rubber-isolated factory mounts, giving direct steering feel and accurate camber readings. The damper bodies are zinc-plated for UK winter survival.

Fitment for the Maserati Quattroporte (2003-2012)

This kit fits the M139 chassis Quattroporte across the full 2003-2012 production run, covering the original 4.2 Cambiocorsa, the Executive GT, the Sport GT, the GT S, and the 4.7-engined late cars. It is a direct bolt-in to factory mounting points – no chassis modification needed.
