XYZ Racing Gravel Rally Coilovers — Honda ACCORD CD3/4/5/6 1993-1997

Stage rally on a CD-chassis Accord is a cult corner of UK motorsport – a 90s Japanese saloon, double-wishbones front and rear, and a torsionally stiff shell that responds well to long-travel damping once you stop trying to make it behave like a tarmac car. The Gravel Rally coilover is built for exactly that brief: loose surfaces, blind crests, and the kind of impacts that finish a road-spec damper inside one stage.

This kit targets gravel and rallycross use specifically. The Accord CD3/4/5/6 was never homologated as a works rally car, but the platform’s predictable balance and parts availability have made it a popular UK clubman build, and the suspension is always the first thing to give up.

What this coilover does for your 1993-1997 Honda Accord Cd3/4/5/6

The CD Accord sits on relatively soft factory dampers with limited travel – fine for the school run, useless once the surface goes loose. Swapping to the Gravel Rally kit raises usable wheel travel, gives the chassis room to soak hits without spiking the bumpstops, and stops the nose washing wide on entry to a fast left-six. Long springs paired with the long-stroke damper let the front axle stay loaded through compressions on bumpy stages, so steering inputs translate into direction change instead of skip and judder. Inverted construction puts the stronger tube where the stones are, which matters when you are reading the road through the windscreen and not the underbody.

About the Gravel Rally coilover

The Gravel Rally damper is engineered specifically for rally and rallycross use, where road condition is the most aggressive of any motorsport discipline – sandstone, snow, silt and everything in between. XYZ uses an inverted tube design to handle that mixed surface load, and the geometry is built around long stroke and long springs so the chassis can absorb sustained vibration and high-speed impact through bouncy sections without bottoming. Spring rates are tested by working rally teams rather than calculated on a bench, which is why the kit copes with the lateral G-force loads that hit suspension hardware mid-corner on a fast gravel stage. There is no compromise to road-friendliness here – this is competition hardware, with the construction and travel to match.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. In all racing events, road condition of Rally Cross is the most aggressive one. Hence, it means that the shock absorber is the most important utensil during the Rally gravel competition. We develop inverted tube design to meet each different road condition as sandstone, snow or silt. Long stroke and long spring which enable to absorb chassis vibration, aggressively attack from high speed bouncy road and bear extremely G-force when turning. All spring rate setting are tested by Rally Racing team.
