XYZ Racing Racing Spec Coilovers — Ferrari 488 GTB (without hydraulic lift system) (Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping) 2016-2026

The 488 GTB’s twin-turbo F154 V8 puts 660bhp through the rear axle of a mid-engined chassis that Ferrari already gave Side Slip Control and magnetorheological damping. Stripping the factory adaptive system out is a deliberate choice, and it only makes sense if what replaces it is a properly developed race damper – not a fast-road coilover with the wiring loom cut.

This is the XYZ Racing Racing Spec coilover for the FE03-1-C 488 GTB, supplied with the cancellation kit that retires the electronic damping ECU so the car runs on mechanical dampers alone. It is built for circuit and time-attack use on cars that have already moved past the factory brief.

What this coilover does for your 2016-2026 Ferrari 488 GTB

Switching to a fixed-rate race damper changes how the 488 loads its tyres. The nose stops floating on initial brake application, mid-corner camber stays where you set it, and the rear axle answers throttle inputs without the millisecond delay you get when an ECU is interpreting a pothole as a corner. Mechanical bump and rebound circuits do the work that magnetorheological fluid was doing on the road car – faster, more honest, and tunable with a click rather than a software flash.

For a car this fast on a circuit, that translates to braking markers you can actually trust into Paddock Hill or Tertre Rouge, a front end that reacts to steering inputs at turn-in rather than half a beat later, and a rear that you can balance on throttle without the chassis second-guessing you. The cancellation kit also removes a known electronic failure point from a 2016-onwards car that is now well outside its original service window.

About the Racing Spec coilover

Racing Spec is XYZ Racing’s circuit-only damper, and the settings on it were developed through direct participation in race series including the WTCC. It is not a fast-road kit with stiffer springs – it is a different damper philosophy aimed at repeat lap work, where heat soak, fade resistance, and a consistent damping curve over a 25-minute stint matter more than ride compliance.

XYZ Racing also offer bespoke builds within this series for cars running factory-grade race conversions or A-class racing programmes. If the 488 in question has aggressive aero, bigger tyres, or a specific circuit it will live on, the dampers can be specified against that brief – send the build sheet and the venue, and the valving is set accordingly. For a standard Racing Spec order, the kit ships as a fixed-rate, race-developed coilover with the cancellation harness needed to retire the factory electronic damping system on the FE03-1-C chassis.

Fitment for the Ferrari 488 GTB (2016-2026)

This kit fits the FE03-1-C 488 GTB, model years 2016 to 2026, in its non-hydraulic-lift form. It includes the cancellation kit required to remove the factory electronic damping system – the car will run on passive race dampers once installed. Cars originally specified with the front-axle hydraulic lift require a different part number.
