XYZ Racing Pro Rally Coilovers — Ferrari 488 GTB (without hydraulic lift system) (Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping) 2016-2026

The 488 GTB was never meant to see a stage. Its 3.9-litre twin-turbo V8, magnetorheological dampers and front-axle hydraulic lift were tuned for tarmac flow and the occasional cobbled village – not for a Tarmac Rally stage start at Targa Florio Historic, or the gravel sections privateers are now running on bespoke builds. The Pro Rally coilover exists for the small group of owners and prep shops genuinely taking an F142 chassis competition rallying, and it makes no pretence of being anything else.

This is a top-flight rally competition damper for a Ferrari 488 GTB that has been built without the factory hydraulic nose lift and is running this XYZ kit’s electronic damping cancellation harness in place of the OE magneride loom. If your car still has lift and adaptive damping plumbed in, this isn’t the variant you want.

What this coilover does for your 2016-2026 Ferrari 488 GTB

A 488 GTB on its factory magneride is brilliant on a B-road and entirely the wrong tool for a rally stage – the OE damper has nothing close to the stroke, bump compliance or compression authority you need over crests, jumps and rutted gravel. The Pro Rally replaces all of that with a competition-spec coilover sized for repeated full-stroke hits, with adjustable spring rates and damping you tune for the surface on the morning of the event. Ride height comes down or up depending on whether you’re on tarmac stages or loose, and the cancellation harness keeps the dash quiet so the car drives without an adaptive-damping fault parked in the cluster. The result is a 488 that actually breathes with the road surface instead of skipping over it.

About the Pro Rally coilover

XYZ build the Pro Rally in two installation philosophies, and the buyer needs to know which one applies before ordering. The amateur-type fitment bolts to the original 488 chassis pickups without bodyshell modification – the route most UK privateers and historic-rally entrants will want. The professional-type fitment expects bodyshell work to relocate or reinforce mounting points, which is the route a full WRC-prep shop running a tube-frame rebuild will take. Both share the same competition damper internals, valved and stroked for rally use rather than circuit work, and both expect a co-driver and an event surface, not a Sunday drive. Spring rates, ride height and corner weights are set up for the event the car is competing in, not for showroom feel. If a sentence about a "compliant fast-road ride" sounds appealing, look at a different coilover in the range.

Fitment for the Ferrari 488 GTB (2016-2026)

Chassis code FE03-1-C, applicable to 488 GTB cars built 2016 through 2026 that have been delivered or converted WITHOUT the factory hydraulic lift system. The kit includes a cancellation harness to disable the original electronic adaptive damping. This is not a fitment for cars retaining the OE nose lift or the adaptive damper ECU – those owners need a different SKU.

The configurator below covers both the amateur (original-chassis) and professional (modified-body) fitments along with spring rates – pick your spec below before adding to your build.

Rally gravel/snow suspensions are very professional suspensions and they are designed into two types:

1. Be installed directly with the original chassis. (Amateur type)
2. Be installed after modifying the car body. (Professional type)
