XYZ Racing Racing Spec Coilovers — Ferrari 458 / 458 Spider (without hydraulic lift system) (Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping) 2010-2015

The 458 Italia arrived as Maranello’s last naturally-aspirated mid-engined V8, and the chassis was tuned around the magnetorheological dampers Ferrari fitted as standard. Strip that electronic damping out for a proper motorsport setup and the car transforms – provided the replacement coilover was developed against the same kind of lap-time pressure the factory engineers worked to. This Racing Spec kit is built for exactly that conversion on the 2010-2015 458 and 458 Spider without the hydraulic lift system.

The cancellation kit element matters here. Pulling the factory adaptive dampers normally throws a dash error and leaves the car limping; XYZ Racing’s package includes the electronic damping cancellation hardware, so the 458’s ECU sees a clean install rather than a fault. What you end up with is a circuit-focused 458 that runs on a setup developed in the same WTCC paddock environment XYZ Racing has been refining for years.

What this coilover does for your 2010-2015 Ferrari 458 / 458 Spider

On a 458 the front axle is light and the V8 sits behind you, so the car lives or dies by how the rear is loaded under power and how the nose responds to trail-braking. Swapping to a fixed-rate motorsport coilover sharpens initial turn-in and gives you a platform that doesn’t soften mid-corner the way a fatigued OEM magnetic damper does. Spring rates and valving developed for circuit work mean the chassis sits flatter through long, loaded corners like Copse or Paddock Hill, where the standard car can feel like it’s running out of damper travel. Ride height comes down to a sensible track stance without bottoming the splitter, and the cancellation kit keeps the dashboard quiet while you do it. For Spider owners the stiffer platform also helps mask the scuttle shake the open chassis carries over rougher circuits.

About the Racing Spec coilover

Racing Spec sits at the top of the XYZ Racing range and is the version built specifically for track race work rather than fast-road compromise. Settings have been derived from direct participation in racing series including WTCC, so the baseline valving you receive has been run against real lap data rather than a generic dyno curve. The construction is aimed at sustained heat cycling and repeated abuse over a session, which is where road-biased coilovers tend to fade. For owners running heavily modified 458s – aero packages, slicks, A-class-style upgrades – XYZ Racing will also build custom shock absorbers to a brief: send them the spec list and the circuit you’ll be running, and the dampers are valved to suit. That bespoke route is what separates this from off-the-shelf race kit and is the reason teams keep going back to the platform.

Fitment for the Ferrari 458 / 458 Spider (2010-2015)

This kit fits the 2010-2015 458 Italia coupe and 458 Spider running chassis code FE05-C, in the variant WITHOUT the factory hydraulic nose-lift system. The package includes the cancellation hardware required to disable the electronic adaptive damping, so the install is a complete swap rather than a partial one. Confirm your car is the non-lift variant before ordering.
