XYZ Racing Gravel Rally Coilovers — BMW 6 SERIES F06 4WD (Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping) 2011-2018

Stage rallying a 1,945kg four-door GT is not the obvious choice, but the F06 6 Series Gran Coupe xDrive has the wheelbase, the rear-biased four-wheel drive split and the torque reserves to make it work – once you get rid of the factory adaptive dampers that were never written for a loose surface. This XYZ Racing Gravel Rally coilover is built for exactly that brief: gravel-stage rally and rallycross use on the F06 chassis, complete with the cancellation kit that tells the BM86-C’s electronic damping module to stop throwing fault codes the moment you unbolt the OE struts.

Inverted-tube construction, a long working stroke and tall springs are the headline points. The factory air/EDC setup on the 640i and 650i F06 was tuned for autobahn refinement, not for landing the car after a yump or absorbing a washboard surface at 90mph – which is what this damper has been developed to do.

What this coilover does for your 2011-2018 Bmw 6 Series F06 4WD (cancellation Kit For Electronic Damping)

The first thing you feel after the swap is the cabin going quiet over the kind of broken surface that used to make the EDC car patter and skip. The long-stroke inverted body soaks up the initial hit and lets the spring do the work of returning the wheel to the ground, so the xDrive system actually has something to put the torque through. Under cornering load – and the F06 generates a lot of it through that long wheelbase – the longer spring resists coil-bind and keeps the rate linear, so the nose doesn’t wash wide when you trail-brake into a loose corner. The cancellation kit is the bit most owners get wrong on their own: without it, the iDrive throws a suspension warning and the stability systems sulk. Fitted correctly, the dash stays clean and the DSC keeps behaving.

About the Gravel Rally coilover

The Gravel Rally is the most specialised damper in the XYZ Racing range and is aimed squarely at rally and rallycross competition, where the surface itself is the most aggressive variable in the sport. The inverted-tube layout puts the larger-diameter, stiffer section at the top of the strut where bending loads are highest, and protects the rod from stone strikes. Stroke length and spring length are both extended versus a road or circuit damper, so the wheel can travel further before the bump-stop is reached – essential when the car is unloaded over a crest or compressed in a compression. Spring rates across the range have been validated by rally teams running the dampers on sandstone, snow and silt stages, which is the relevant test bed for a damper that has to deal with hits and rebound events a tarmac damper would never see. The cancellation kit supplied with this F06 application bypasses the OE electronic damping loop so the BM86-C’s control module reads as a healthy passive suspension.

Fitment for the Bmw 6 Series F06 4WD (Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping) (2011-2018)

Chassis code BM86-C, covering the 2011-2018 F06 Gran Coupe in xDrive (4WD) specification. This is the cancellation-kit variant – required for any F06 that left the factory with the electronic adaptive damping option, so the OE control module does not throw faults once the original struts are removed.

Pick your spring rate, ride height and damping spec for the F06 xDrive below and build the kit to your stage requirements.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. In all racing events, road condition of Rally Cross is the most aggressive one. Hence, it means that the shock absorber is the most important utensil during the Rally gravel competition. We develop inverted tube design to meet each different road condition as sandstone, snow or silt. Long stroke and long spring which enable to absorb chassis vibration, aggressively attack from high speed bouncy road and bear extremely G-force when turning. All spring rate setting are tested by Rally Racing team.

Top mounts included with your kit

Every XYZ Racing coilover kit ships with the upper mounts listed below for your exact chassis — no extra parts to source.

  • Aluminium top mountAluminiumAAluminium upper mount — a stiff, lightweight housing that locates the damper precisely and resists flex under load.
