XYZ Racing Pro Racing Drift Spec Coilovers — Volkswagen GOLF MK6 4WD φ50 (Modified Rear Integrated) (Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping) 2008-2012

The Golf MK6 4WD’s Haldex-based all-wheel-drive system sends power rearward under load, and the factory electronic damping it left the production line with was tuned to manage that transfer smoothly rather than provoke it. Fitting a set of manually adjustable coilovers means bypassing that electronic damping altogether, which is exactly what the cancellation kit included here is for. Pair that with a coilover built specifically for drift work and you get a chassis you can set up to break traction and hold an angle, rather than one that keeps correcting itself.

XYZ Racing’s Pro Racing Drift Spec is built around 3-way adjustment via small oil-hole knobs designed to keep the body settled through the entry, mid-turn and exit of a slide, not just to soak up bumps. Lower the ride height within the kit’s bump stroke and body roll drops away in exactly the phase of the corner a drift car needs it least – right as you’re loading the outside tyre and asking the diff to send power to whichever end still has grip.

What this coilover does for your 2008-2012 Volkswagen GOLF MK6

On a Golf MK6 4WD, that means more predictable weight transfer during initiation – the front end tucks in on lift-off or the handbrake the way you’ve set it up to, rather than however the standard electronic dampers decide to react on any given run. The 3-way adjustment lets you separate front and rear behaviour so the Haldex system’s rearward torque bias actually helps rotate the car instead of fighting the slide. Ride height drops within a controlled bump stroke, lowering the centre of gravity without eating into the wheel travel a drift car depends on for correction. Because the damping is now a set of physical knobs rather than a control unit, changes made between runs stay put until you move them again.

About the Pro Racing Drift Spec coilover

XYZ Racing built the Pro Racing Drift Spec line for one job: stabilising the body while the car is being driven sideways at speed, so the driver can hold a clean, consistent angle instead of fighting the chassis. Each corner uses 3 external adjustment knobs working through a deliberately small internal oil passage – a design that trades a bit of extra noise over harsh bumps for finer control over how the damper reacts as load shifts through a slide. That noise is a known characteristic of the design, not a fault, and it’s there because the kit assumes smooth circuit tarmac rather than pockmarked road surfaces. Ride height can be dropped within the kit’s bump stroke without running out of travel, which is what lets the car keep its angle through a drift rather than bottoming out mid-corner.

Fitment for the Volkswagen GOLF MK6 (2008-2012)

This kit is built for the Volkswagen GOLF MK6 4WD, chassis code VO18-A-C, covering 2008 to 2012 production. The Φ50 strut and Modified Rr Integrated rear mounting are specific to this Haldex-equipped 4WD variant, and the Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping is included because these cars left the factory with electronic dampers that a passive coilover has to replace outright, not simply work alongside.

  • Golf MK6 Haldex 4WD suspension set up for controlled oversteer rather than touring comfort

If you’re setting up a Golf MK6 4WD for serious drift work, the factory electronics need to come out of the equation first. Pick your spec below and build yours to suit the angle you’re chasing.

This suspension is especially designed for Drift racing purpose. With its special design, it helps the racers stabilize the vehicle body while in high speed turning in order to make a perfect angle. It can also enhance drifting performance. After lowering the ride height with proper bump stroke, you will realize how we made the drift controlling to the excellent condition.

Because its 3 adjustment knobs with small oil hole design, when driving through big bumps, the coilover oil will go through small passage which might cause some small noise. This is normal situation. This product is made for circuit tracks and there will be no concern for bumps on the tracks.
