XYZ Racing Gravel Rally Coilovers — Volkswagen GOLF MK6 4WD φ50 (Modified Rear Integrated) (Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping) 2008-2012

The Golf Mk6 4WD’s Haldex-coupled all-wheel-drive system shifts torque rearward the instant the front tyres lose bite on loose surfaces, which is exactly the moment a gravel stage stops being predictable. Nose-heavy from its transverse engine layout, the car pitches hard into ruts and washboard sections unless the dampers can shed energy fast enough to keep the front axle loaded and the diff doing useful work.

The XYZ Racing Gravel Rally coilover is built for that stage, not for a track kerb or a speed hump. It is the spec for drivers running this Golf on loose-surface competitive events who need a damper that survives repeated high-speed compressions without fading halfway through a run.

What this coilover does for your 2008-2012 Volkswagen GOLF MK6 4WD

Fitted to this Golf Mk6 4WD, the inverted-tube monotube body keeps oil control consistent through repeated hard compressions instead of fading as the shock heats up on a long stage. The extended stroke and long-format spring soak up chassis vibration transmitted through ruts and washboard, so the Haldex system keeps receiving usable traction data instead of a front axle bouncing on and off the ground. This variant is built as a cancellation kit for the factory electronic damping control, so the Golf’s original DCC wiring and modules are bypassed entirely – the shock’s valving does the work mechanically, with no electronic intervention to second-guess under load. On a car that pitches nose-first under trail braking, that mechanical consistency is what keeps the rear end settled through direction changes on loose surfaces.

About the Gravel Rally coilover

XYZ Racing built the Gravel Rally coilover specifically for rally and rally-cross use, where road surface is more aggressive than anything a circuit or fast-road setup will see – sandstone, snow, silt and everything in between on the same stage. The inverted-tube layout was chosen to cope with that surface variability without changing the shock’s core behaviour. A long stroke and long-format spring give the damper room to absorb chassis vibration and heavy compressions from high-speed bouncy sections, while still controlling body movement under the extreme cornering G-force a gravel stage generates. Every spring rate in the range has been set using data supplied by an active rally racing team, rather than derived from road-car bump-stop numbers, so the base tune already reflects what a car does sideways over a crest rather than what it does on a smooth apex.

Fitment for the Volkswagen GOLF MK6 4WD (2008-2012)

This kit is built for the Golf Mk6 4WD, chassis code VO18-A-C, covering the 2008 to 2012 production run with the φ50 (50 mm) shock body and modified rear-integrated mounting. It is supplied as the cancellation-kit variant for cars fitted with factory electronic damping control, replacing that system with fixed mechanical valving front and rear.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. In all racing events, road condition of Rally Cross is the most aggressive one. Hence, it means that the shock absorber is the most important utensil during the Rally gravel competition. We develop inverted tube design to meet each different road condition as sandstone, snow or silt. Long stroke and long spring which enable to absorb chassis vibration, aggressively attack from high speed bouncy road and bear extremely G-force when turning. All spring rate setting are tested by Rally Racing team.
