XYZ Racing Drag Racing Coilovers — Subaru IMPREZA GDA/GDB STI A-D/GGA/GGB (PCD:5 X 100) 2WD/4WD 2000-2007

The GDB STI’s symmetrical AWD and EJ207 torque make it a natural strip weapon – but wringing consistent 0-400m times from one requires more than chassis confidence at speed. At the moment of launch, weight distribution and tyre loading become the variables that separate a clean run from all four wheels spinning past their grip limit in the first half-second. These XYZ Racing Drag Racing coilovers are built specifically to address that problem: the setup allows front and rear height to be adjusted independently, shifting static weight balance toward whichever axle needs it most before the countdown reaches zero.

For GDA and GGB owners running this platform in either 2WD or 4WD trim, or GDB STI drivers looking to bring some engineering discipline to their strip prep, the gap between factory suspension behaviour and a drag-specific setup is significant. Stock Impreza suspension compromises for road use across all conditions. This kit does not.

What this coilover does for your 2000-2007 Subaru IMPREZA GDA/GDB STI A-D/GGA/GGB (PCD:5 X 100) 2WD/4WD

The concrete gain is in tyre compression at launch. By setting front and rear heights to bias weight toward the driven axle – rear-loaded on 4WD, front-weighted for any 2WD variant – the coilovers force the drive tyre into harder contact with the surface at the moment of clutch engagement, reducing the idle window between wheel spin and genuine traction. On a GDB STI with the DCCD locked for strip use, that tighter contact patch works with the centre differential rather than against it, producing more repeatable passes. At the far end of the run, improved high-speed stability means the car settles predictably through the timing beam rather than hunting lanes as aerodynamic loads build past 100mph.

About the Drag Racing coilover

Built specifically for 0-400m competition across FWD, RWD and 4WD platforms, this XYZ Racing Drag Racing coilover addresses a tuning problem that road-biased suspension kits are never designed to solve: directing weight transfer in the critical opening moments of acceleration. Independent front and rear adjustment lets the driver load the driven axle harder before roll-out, forcing greater compression on the launch tyre. That compression shortens the gap between wheel rotation and useable grip – the idle time on the drive tyre that costs fractional seconds per run. For four-wheel-drive cars like the Impreza, the four-corner contact patch loading can be biased rearward for a squatting start, with further refinement based on surface condition, ambient temperature, or power level. High-speed stability at the far end of the pass is a secondary design priority, giving the car settled, predictable behaviour past the finish beam.

Fitment for the Subaru IMPREZA GDA/GDB STI A-D/GGA/GGB (2000-2007)

This kit covers the SU05 platform across the GDA and GDB saloon variants and the GGA/GGB wagon bodystyles, spanning STI Type A through Type D production from 2000 to 2007. Both 2WD and 4WD configurations are supported under the same part number. The 5 x 100 PCD applies throughout this Impreza generation – the successor GRB STI from 2007 onwards moved to 5 x 114.3 and requires a separate kit.

Strip prep starts with what’s under the car, and a drag-specific setup makes the difference the factory suspension never will. Pick your spec below.

The coilovers are specially designed for 0~400 drag racing such as FWD, RWD or 4WD models. The setting allows vehicle to change the front and rear weight according to the transmission wheel in instant driving, and force the transmission tire having greater compression, which can reduce the idle time of wheel and improve the stability of the vehicle under high speed.
