XYZ Racing Top Sport Coilovers — Porsche 991 GT3 (without hydraulic lift system) 2013-2019

Speccing the 991 GT3 without the hydraulic front lift system is a statement of intent. You have already decided the car will live at track height, that PASM’s street mode is a compromise you are not interested in, and that the double-wishbone front suspension – far more sophisticated than the MacPherson arrangement fitted to the standard 991 – is going to work harder than Porsche’s factory calibration ever intended.

XYZ Racing’s Top Sport coilover for the Porsche 991 GT3 (2013-2019) builds on that commitment. Calibrated for track day and aggressive road use, it spans both the 991.1 – 3.8-litre, PDK-only – and the 991.2 that followed in 2017 with its 4.0-litre engine and the returning manual gearbox option. A single fitment covering both generations because the chassis fundamentals that determine how the suspension loads are common across the run.

What this coilover does for your 2013-2019 Porsche 991 GT3 (without Hydraulic Lift System)

Running 30-50% more damping force than a street calibration, the Top Sport gives the GT3’s front axle more authority at the point of maximum lateral load – the moment of commitment into a corner where the car’s rear-biased weight distribution is most acutely felt through the wheel. The 2kg/mm spring rate increase over a street baseline tightens body control through sustained direction changes without producing the harsh, fatiguing ride that makes a circuit-spec suspension miserable on the way to the venue.

On the GT3’s rigid rear subframe, where the flat-six’s mass concentrates, increased rebound control brings more repeatable behaviour under hard braking – which is where the factory PASM can feel inconsistent when the rear is already heavily loaded. Across rough or disrupted surfaces, the construction is optimised to absorb sharp-edged impacts and suppress the secondary oscillations that keep the tyre from settling, improving contact patch consistency throughout.

About the Top Sport coilover

The Top Sport series draws its calibration directly from XYZ Racing’s circuit experience, with damping and spring rate settings developed through track use rather than extrapolated from OEM data. The setup increases damping force by 30-50% over a conventional street configuration and lifts spring rates by approximately 2kg/mm, specifically to improve body stability and tyre traction across the range of conditions a car sees on a track day – from a cold formation lap on a damp morning to full commitment at operating temperature.

Construction focuses on two competing demands: absorbing the jolt from big surface disruptions without transmitting the impact through to the chassis, and suppressing the body movement that persists after that initial hit. On a platform with the GT3’s inherent rigidity, finding the balance between those two requirements is more precise work than on a softer road car, and the Top Sport’s calibration reflects that. The result is a coilover that delivers the handling the 991 GT3’s suspension geometry is genuinely capable of – tighter, more consistent, with better tyre contact – without the unforgiving character of a purely circuit-oriented setup.

Fitment for the Porsche 991 GT3 (without Hydraulic Lift System) (2013-2019)

Chassis code PO17. This specification covers the 991 GT3 without the hydraulic front lift system option, across both the 991.1 and 991.2 generations built from 2013 to 2019. Confirm the front lift system is not fitted before ordering – 991 GT3 variants with the hydraulic lift option use a different front strut arrangement and require a separate fitment specification.
