XYZ Racing Gravel Rally Coilovers — Peugeot 306 1993-2002

The 306’s gravel stage credentials are hard-earned. Peugeot’s front-wheel-drive hatchback spent much of the mid-1990s humiliating kit car class rivals across Europe, and the platform’s light weight and responsive front axle made it a natural on loose surfaces long before any aftermarket coilover appeared. Even Group N 306s built honest stage results – this is not a car that needs romanticising.

The XYZ Racing Gravel Rally coilover for the Peugeot 306 (1993-2002) picks up where that history leaves it. Built from the ground up for Rally Racing and rallycross – not adapted from a road or circuit setup – it targets the specific demands of high-speed competition on unpredictable loose surfaces.

What this coilover does for your 1993-2002 Peugeot 306

On a front-wheel-drive car attacking gravel stages, the 306’s MacPherson front suspension bears the full cost of every crest, every rut, and every aggressive braking point. Inverted tube construction adds rigidity under the lateral loads generated when the front axle is asked to steer and absorb simultaneously – a particular consideration on FWD cars where the same corner does both jobs at once. Long-stroke travel keeps the wheels in contact through surface discontinuities that would compress a standard damper beyond its working range, absorbing chassis vibration and handling the G-force peaks generated during direction changes at competition pace. Spring rates were validated through active rally team testing across three distinct surface types – sandstone, snow, and silt – not extrapolated from static bench calculations.

About the Gravel Rally coilover

The Gravel Rally is an inverted tube damper built specifically for Rally Racing and rallycross competition. Inverting the tube places the larger-diameter outer cylinder at the top of the assembly, improving stiffness under side loads and aiding heat dissipation through sustained stage use. Long springs paired with extended stroke address the different compliance demands of sandstone, snow, and silt – three surfaces that load suspension in meaningfully different ways. The long-travel design also handles the extremely high G-forces generated during direction changes on rough, high-speed gravel stages. All spring rate settings in the Gravel Rally range were developed and signed off through XYZ Racing team testing under actual competition conditions, not derived from road car data.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. In all racing events, road condition of Rally Cross is the most aggressive one. Hence, it means that the shock absorber is the most important utensil during the Rally gravel competition. We develop inverted tube design to meet each different road condition as sandstone, snow or silt. Long stroke and long spring which enable to absorb chassis vibration, aggressively attack from high speed bouncy road and bear extremely G-force when turning. All spring rate setting are tested by Rally Racing team.
