XYZ Racing Pro Racing Drift Spec Coilovers — Nissan 240/260/280 Z φ51 welding 1970-1978

The S30-generation Z – 240, 260 and 280 variants alike – was built before anyone welded a coilover sleeve onto a strut body as standard practice, which is exactly why this kit specifies a φ51 welded construction: the strut housing is built up to accept a 51mm coilover collar rather than relying on a factory thread these cars never had. That matters most once you’re committing that long nose into a corner at drift angle, where a chassis this old needs a suspension platform that won’t flex or wander the moment weight transfers off the front axle.

This Pro Racing Drift Spec kit is built specifically around that scenario – a car being driven sideways, at speed, repeatedly. It lowers the ride height and firms the platform without turning the Z into something unrecognisable at the point of entry, keeping the chassis’ natural balance intact while giving you the adjustment range to chase and hold the angle you’re actually after.

What this coilover does for your 1970-1978 Nissan 240/260/280 Z φ51 WELDING

With the ride height lowered and bump stroke properly set, body movement during fast direction changes drops noticeably – exactly the point when you’re trying to hold a controlled angle rather than fight for one. Three external adjustment knobs let you separate rebound and compression behaviour, so you can tune the car to load and unload predictably as it transitions from entry to slide to catch, rather than working around a single-knob compromise. Because the internal oil path runs through a small-diameter passage, the damper responds precisely to small inputs – useful when you’re making the fine corrections that keep a Z pointed where you want it mid-slide. Stiffened, lowered and properly damped, the S30’s chassis stops behaving like a 1970s road car the moment you turn the wheel in anger, and starts behaving like something built to be driven sideways on purpose.

About the Pro Racing Drift Spec coilover

XYZ Racing built the Pro Racing Drift Spec line around one job: keeping a car’s body settled while it’s being driven at an aggressive angle, at speed. The valving is tuned to stabilise the chassis through fast, high-load direction changes so the car holds a clean, consistent drift angle instead of wallowing or snapping loose mid-corner. Ride height comes down as part of the setup, and once bump stroke is set correctly, drift control sharpens noticeably over a stock or generic lowering kit. Each damper uses three external adjustment knobs feeding a small-diameter internal oil passage – a deliberate design choice for precision at the cost of a little extra noise over bigger bumps, which is normal and not a fault. XYZ Racing built this kit for circuit and track use, where consistent, repeatable damper behaviour under repeated hard loading matters more than outright ride comfort.

Fitment for the Nissan 240/260/280 Z φ51 WELDING (1970-1978)

This kit is built for the Nissan 240/260/280 Z range across the full 1970-1978 production run, covering the S30 platform under chassis code NI01. The φ51 welded strut construction is specific to this generation’s original strut housings, so confirm your car retains its unmodified S30-era struts before ordering.

This suspension is especially designed for Drift racing purpose. With its special design, it helps the racers stabilize the vehicle body while in high speed turning in order to make a perfect angle. It can also enhance drifting performance. After lowering the ride height with proper bump stroke, you will realize how we made the drift controlling to the excellent condition.

Because its 3 adjustment knobs with small oil hole design, when driving through big bumps, the coilover oil will go through small passage which might cause some small noise. This is normal situation. This product is made for circuit tracks and there will be no concern for bumps on the tracks.
