XYZ Racing Pro Racing Gravel/Snow Coilovers — Mitsubishi GALANT (USA) (McPHERSON) 1999-2003

The USA-market Galant of this era rode on tall, compliant McPherson struts and carried most of its mass over the front axle. That suited a quiet saloon, but it works against you the moment you point the nose down a loose stage road or a snow-covered B-road, where the standard struts run out of travel and the front end skips wide. The XYZ Racing Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover for the Mitsubishi Galant (1999-2003) is built for that surface: long-travel damping that keeps the tyres loaded over broken ground instead of crashing through to the bump stops.

This is the rally and rallycross end of the XYZ Racing range, not a lowered fast-road kit. The extended front and rear stroke buys a larger working buffer, so a nose-heavy front-driver like the Galant stays settled when the road drops away beneath it.

What this coilover does for your 1999-2003 Mitsubishi Galant

On a rough surface the gain is composure: the wheels follow the ground rather than the body, so the front axle keeps biting where the factory struts would have gone light. The larger oil and nitrogen gas volume gives the dampers the thermal headroom to take repeated punishment on a long gravel run without fading as the fluid heats. Three separate adjustment knobs let you set the Galant’s damping for the grip level under you, from packed snow to dry loose gravel, and you can trim ride height to suit the stage rather than the showroom. The result is a front-driver that you can lean on through rough, low-grip corners with far more confidence than the standard setup allows.

About the Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover

This damper is engineered first for rally and rallycross use. The headline feature is travel: both front and rear units run a longer stroke than a circuit kit, which increases the buffer distance and keeps the car stable when it is being thrown over rough terrain. To support that abuse, XYZ Racing have increased the volume of shock oil and nitrogen gas inside each unit, which raises stability and stops the oil temperature climbing high enough to exhaust the damper over a long session. The kit uses three adjustment knobs feeding a small-bore oil passage. One practical consequence of that small-hole design: over large bumps the oil is forced through a tight passage and can produce a faint noise. That is normal behaviour for this construction and not a fault. Built for the rough, it shrugs off surface bumps that would unsettle a stiffer track setup.

Fitment for the Mitsubishi Galant (1999-2003)

This kit is cut for the USA-market Galant built between 1999 and 2003, running the McPherson strut front layout as denoted by the chassis listing. Confirm your car matches the USA McPherson designation before ordering, since strut-type variants take different hardware.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. With longer travel for both front and rear, it increases bigger buffer distance to keep the car stable. The most advantages of this product is to extend the amount of suspension oil and nitrogen gas which can increase the stability of the shocks and prevent the shock oil temperature too high from being exhausted after long-term use.

Because its 3 adjustment knobs with small oil hole design, when driving through big bumps, the coilover oil will go through small passage which might cause some small noise. This is normal situation. This product is made for circuit tracks and there will be no concern for bumps on the tracks.

  • Hardened rubber top mountHardened rubberRHardened rubber upper — firmer than the factory bush for tighter response while retaining road-friendly noise and vibration isolation.

Rear

  • Aluminium top mountAluminiumAAluminium upper mount — a stiff, lightweight housing that locates the damper precisely and resists flex under load.
