XYZ Racing Pro Racing Gravel/Snow Coilovers — Mitsubishi ECLIPSE TURBO 4WD 1989-1995

The first-generation Eclipse Turbo’s 4G63 and full-time 4WD system were always rally hardware wearing a coupe body, and the MT13 chassis has the wheel travel appetite to prove it once you get it off tarmac. Loose surfaces load a car differently to circuit tarmac – the axle needs somewhere to go when a rut or compression arrives mid-corner, not a shock that tops out and skips.

This Pro Racing Gravel/Snow spec is built around that difference. It is a longer-travel damper front and rear, giving the MT13’s suspension a bigger buffer before it runs out of stroke on rough or unsealed ground, which is exactly the failure point that catches out road-spec coilovers the moment they leave asphalt.

What this coilover does for your 1989-1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse Turbo 4WD

The extended front and rear travel keeps the Eclipse’s wheels tracking the surface through compressions and washouts instead of crashing through the last few millimetres of shock stroke, which on a 4WD platform like this means all four corners stay loaded and putting power down rather than skating. A larger reservoir of suspension oil and nitrogen gas is built into the design specifically to manage heat: long rally or gravel stages generate sustained shock work, and keeping oil temperature down is what stops damping force fading away just when you need it most. Three external adjustment knobs let you retune compression and rebound between a fast gravel stage and a snow-covered one without pulling the dampers apart. Fitted to a matched MT13 platform, that combination gives the Eclipse Turbo 4WD a suspension that behaves consistently from the first mile of a stage to the last.

About the Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover

This is a damper built specifically for rally and rallycross use rather than adapted from a circuit design. The extended travel at both ends is the headline change from a track-biased coilover, giving the car a bigger cushion against the sudden compressions that gravel and snow surfaces throw at a chassis. Internally it carries a larger volume of suspension oil and nitrogen gas than a standard road or circuit unit, which is there to stop the shock oil overheating and losing consistency across a long stage or repeated runs. The three adjustment knobs use a small-oil-hole metering design; on big hits you may hear a faint noise as oil passes through that restricted passage, which is a normal characteristic of this valving rather than a fault. XYZ Racing built the platform for circuit-adjacent durability too, so the hardware underneath is the same track-grade construction, just re-tuned for loose-surface travel and heat management.

Fitment for the Mitsubishi Eclipse Turbo 4WD (1989-1995)

Built for the MT13 chassis Eclipse Turbo 4WD produced between 1989 and 1995. Confirm your car is the turbocharged 4WD variant of this generation before ordering, as travel and mounting geometry are matched to that drivetrain layout specifically.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. With longer travel for both front and rear, it increases bigger buffer distance to keep the car stable. The most advantages of this product is to extend the amount of suspension oil and nitrogen gas which can increase the stability of the shocks and prevent the shock oil temperature too high from being exhausted after long-term use.

Because its 3 adjustment knobs with small oil hole design, when driving through big bumps, the coilover oil will go through small passage which might cause some small noise. This is normal situation. This product is made for circuit tracks and there will be no concern for bumps on the tracks.

  • Hardened rubber top mountHardened rubberRHardened rubber upper — firmer than the factory bush for tighter response while retaining road-friendly noise and vibration isolation.

Rear

  • Aluminium top mountAluminiumAAluminium upper mount — a stiff, lightweight housing that locates the damper precisely and resists flex under load.
