XYZ Racing Drift Spec Coilovers — Mitsubishi ECLIPSE TURBO 4WD 1989-1995

The first-generation Eclipse Turbo’s all-wheel-drive layout was built for traction, not for sliding – which is exactly why drift builds running the MT13 chassis need suspension geometry that fights the car’s factory instincts. Getting a controlled angle out of a 4G63-powered, AWD-biased platform means the rear end has to break loose predictably and the body has to stay settled while it does it.

XYZ Racing’s Drift Spec coilover is built around that specific problem rather than general-purpose stiffness. It lowers the ride height and reworks the bump stroke so the chassis holds its line through a committed slide instead of wallowing or snapping back.

What this coilover does for your 1989-1995 Mitsubishi ECLIPSE TURBO 4WD

Dropping the ride height on the MT13 lowers the centre of gravity and tightens body control the moment you transition into a slide, which matters more on an AWD chassis than a rear-drive one since weight transfer has to work harder to unstick the front axle. The reworked bump stroke keeps the chassis stable mid-drift rather than pitching as the suspension compresses under load, so the car holds an angle instead of correcting itself out of it. For competitive drifting, that stability translates directly into cleaner initiations and the ability to hold a line through transitions without the rear stepping out unpredictably. Ride height and damping are both adjustable, so the setup can be leaned further toward stability or toward a looser, more reactive rear as the driver’s technique demands.

About the Drift Spec coilover

XYZ Racing designed the Drift Spec line around one job: stabilising the body of the car through high-speed direction changes so the driver can hold a clean, controlled angle rather than fight the chassis. The construction leans on a lowered ride height paired with a purpose-set bump stroke, which together keep body movement predictable when the car is loaded up sideways rather than in a straight line. That combination is what separates a drift setup from a standard fast-road or circuit coilover – the priorities are angle control and recoverability, not outright grip. Once the ride height is dropped correctly and the bump stroke is matched to the car’s weight, drift control sharpens noticeably compared with stock or generic lowering springs. It is built specifically for drivers actively competing or training in competitive drifting, where consistent, repeatable slide behaviour matters more than outright cornering speed.

Fitment for the Mitsubishi ECLIPSE TURBO 4WD (1989-1995)

This kit is built for the MT13-chassis Mitsubishi Eclipse Turbo 4WD produced between 1989 and 1995. Confirm your car is the turbocharged all-wheel-drive variant of this generation before ordering, as fitment is specific to the MT13 platform rather than the naturally aspirated or front-drive Eclipse variants sold across the same years.

This suspension is designed for Drift race especially. With its special design, it helps the racers stabilize the vehicle body while in high speed turning in order to make a perfect angle. It can also enhance drifting performance. After lowing the ride height with proper bump stroke, you will realize how we made the drift controlling to the excellent condition.

Every XYZ Racing coilover kit ships with the upper mounts listed below for your exact chassis — no extra parts to source.

Front

  • Pillow ball + rubber top mountPillow ball + rubberP+Pillow-ball upper with a rubber insert — adds steering precision and camber adjustability while keeping some of the factory mount’s harshness damping.
  • Hardened rubber top mountHardened rubberRHardened rubber upper — firmer than the factory bush for tighter response while retaining road-friendly noise and vibration isolation.

Rear

  • Aluminium top mountAluminiumAAluminium upper mount — a stiff, lightweight housing that locates the damper precisely and resists flex under load.
