XYZ Racing Gravel Rally Coilovers — Mitsubishi 380 2005-2007

The MT01 platform’s long wheelbase and front-wheel drive layout were designed around motorway comfort, not gravel hairpins – which means stock 380 dampers run out of travel almost immediately once the stage surface degrades. These XYZ Racing Gravel Rally coilovers rebuild the 380’s relationship with rough-cut stages from first principles: dramatically extended stroke, inverted damper tubes, and spring rates that have been validated by rally teams running on sandstone, snow, and silt.

Front-drive rally cars live and die on front-axle composure. The 380’s 3.8-litre V6 sits ahead of the axle line and adds substantial nose mass that the standard dampers simply weren’t calibrated to manage through high-speed compressions. The Gravel Rally kit addresses that directly – longer travel absorbs the chassis kick that on standard setup would pitch the nose and break traction mid-corner.

What this coilover does for your 2005-2007 Mitsubishi 380

The inverted-tube damper construction keeps unsprung weight low on the 380’s front axle – a platform that must manage the mass of that heavy V6 while simultaneously steering and transmitting drive. On loose surfaces, that combination makes front-end composure critical: a damper that goes rigid under compression transfers load abruptly and snaps traction at exactly the wrong moment. Extended stroke means the suspension keeps working through deep ruts and crests rather than bottoming out. Spring rates are calibrated for actual gravel-stage load conditions, not extrapolated from a road setup, so the 380’s geometry stays consistent through the full travel range and gives repeatable responses under hard cornering loads.

About the Gravel Rally coilover

The XYZ Racing Gravel Rally is an inverted-monotube damper developed for loose-surface competition, where road conditions are the most aggressive a damper ever faces. The inverted tube layout – larger-diameter tube riding over the shaft – improves structural rigidity and resists the constant lateral bending loads that gravel stages impose. Long-travel stroke combined with long-throw springs gives the chassis room to absorb energy from high-speed compressions, sandstone impacts, and extreme lateral G loading through gravel hairpins. The design covers the full range of loose-surface conditions: sandstone, silt, snow. Every spring rate in the Gravel Rally programme has been signed off by XYZ Racing teams running the kit in competition, not estimated in a test lab.

Fitment for the Mitsubishi 380 (2005-2007)

This kit is built to the MT01 chassis specification for the Mitsubishi 380 across the full production run from 2005 to 2007. Fitment covers the front strut assemblies and rear dampers to suit the 380’s suspension geometry. Confirm your build year against the MT01 code before ordering – no mid-cycle chassis changes are documented for this generation.

Build yours below – the configurator will confirm the correct spring rate specification for the 380’s front-axle load distribution and your intended stage surface.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. In all racing events, road condition of Rally Cross is the most aggressive one. Hence, it means that the shock absorber is the most important utensil during the Rally gravel competition. We develop inverted tube design to meet each different road condition as sandstone, snow or silt. Long stroke and long spring which enable to absorb chassis vibration, aggressively attack from high speed bouncy road and bear extremely G-force when turning. All spring rate setting are tested by Rally Racing team.

Top mounts included with your kit

Every XYZ Racing coilover kit ships with the upper mounts listed below for your exact chassis — no extra parts to source.

  • Pillow ball + rubber top mountPillow ball + rubberP+Pillow-ball upper with a rubber insert — adds steering precision and camber adjustability while keeping some of the factory mount’s harshness damping.
  • Hardened rubber top mountHardened rubberRHardened rubber upper — firmer than the factory bush for tighter response while retaining road-friendly noise and vibration isolation.
  • Aluminium top mountAluminiumAAluminium upper mount — a stiff, lightweight housing that locates the damper precisely and resists flex under load.
