XYZ Racing Top Sport Coilovers — Mazda 6 (GH1) (NON MPS) 2008-2012

The first-generation GH Mazda 6 was Mazda’s quiet handler – a saloon-and-estate that out-cornered most of its segment on twisty B-roads but shipped with damping calibrated for showroom comfort and a ride height set well clear of decent kerbs. Non-MPS cars in particular sit on softer springs than the turbocharged flagship, and the front end runs out of body control long before the chassis itself runs out of grip. That is the gap the XYZ Racing Top Sport coilover for the Mazda 6 (GH1) 2008-2012 closes.

Top Sport is XYZ Racing’s circuit-leaning coilover – a 36-way adjustable damper kit aimed at owners running track days, sprint events and the occasional hillclimb in a road-registered car. It keeps the GH’s natural front-rear balance honest under hard braking and turn-in without stripping out the long-distance comfort the saloon was bought for.

What this coilover does for your 2008-2012 Mazda 6 (GH1) (NON MPS)

Drop the ride height into a useful window, flatten the lean that the standard 6 carries through fast direction changes, and give the front axle the body control it needs to actually use the chassis. The 36-step damping range matters here: the non-MPS car runs lighter spring rates than the MPS, so you have room to soften the dampers for a UK commute on poor surfaces, then wind them up before a track session without changing a spring. Brake confidence climbs because nose dive is contained, which keeps weight on the rear tyres deeper into the corner. Stance closes the wheel-arch gap that the standard car wears awkwardly on 18s and 19s.

About the Top Sport coilover

Top Sport runs a monotube damper with the full 36 clicks of bump-and-rebound adjustment on a single dial – one of the more usable adjuster designs in the price bracket, because you do not need to crawl under the car to find a separate rebound knob. Ride height is set independently of spring preload via the lower mount, which preserves usable shock stroke at low ride heights rather than relying on shortened bump travel. Spring rates are pitched for owners who want a stiffer-than-standard car that still works on imperfect tarmac, with pillowball top mounts up front for steering precision and rubber rear mounts to keep NVH in the cabin honest. Build is camber-adjustable at the front to recover negative camber lost as the car drops.

Fitment for the Mazda 6 (2008-2012)

This kit fits the GH1 chassis Mazda 6 non-MPS variants – saloon, hatch and estate body styles built between 2008 and 2012. It is not the correct part for the turbocharged Mazda 6 MPS, which uses a different damper and spring spec; confirm your car is the non-MPS GH1 before ordering.
