XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally Coilovers — Maserati GHIBLI M157 4WD (excl. EDC) 2013-2026

The Ghibli M157 in Q4 trim sits on a platform that was never going to be light – a long-nose saloon with the V6 twin-turbo over the front axle, a Torsen-derived all-wheel-drive system, and a kerb weight that punishes soft factory dampers within a season of British roads. The XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally coilover is built specifically for that reality: a high-grip, high-load surface use case where the car needs to stay flat through a quick direction change and then immediately settle for the next one.

This kit is the right call for owners who want to convert a fast Q4 Ghibli from a comfortable cruiser into a saloon that actually feels its 410bhp on a B-road or a closed tarmac stage. The non-EDC fitment matters – this is the mechanical-damping kit, not a piggyback for the air/adaptive cars.

What this coilover does for your 2013-2026 Maserati GHIBLI M157 4WD (excl. EDC)

The Tarmac Rally damping curve is tuned to control a heavy, front-biased saloon under repeated load reversals – exactly what the Q4 Ghibli does under quick steering inputs when the front axle is being asked to both turn and put power down. Independent 30-way bump and 30-way rebound adjustment lets you separate how the car loads its springs from how it releases them, which is the single biggest gain on a chassis this nose-heavy. Ride-height adjustment is on a separate collar from spring preload, so you can drop the car to a sensible stance without pre-loading the springs and ruining the bump curve. Pillowball top mounts at the front replace the rubber OEM bushings, sharpening turn-in response and removing the slow, vague onset of steering load that the factory mounts give you mid-corner.

About the Tarmac Rally coilover

The Tarmac Rally sits in the XYZ range above the Super Sport and Circuit Master kits, aimed at high-grip surfaces where a rally-spec damper would otherwise be overdamped for tarmac use. Construction is a monotube design with a 44mm shock body and an external reservoir on the rear unit, giving the oil volume needed to resist fade over a long stage or a sustained run. Spring rates are matched to the M157’s front weight distribution and supplied with separate helper springs to maintain spring contact through full droop. The damper internals run a digressive piston, which keeps low-speed body control firm without making high-speed compression – kerbs, expansion joints, mid-corner bumps – feel like hammer blows. Camber plates are integrated at the front, giving you static negative camber adjustment without the trial-and-error of shimming the OEM strut tops.

Fitment for the Maserati GHIBLI M157 4WD (2013-2026)

This kit fits the M157 chassis Ghibli in 4WD (Q4) configuration only, model years 2013 through 2026. It is the non-EDC fitment – cars equipped with Maserati’s electronic damping control should not use this kit, as the EDC harness and adaptive valving are not compatible. Confirm your VIN against the M157 Q4 spec before ordering.
