XYZ Racing Pro Racing Gravel/Snow Coilovers — Hyundai MATRIX 2001-2010

The Hyundai Matrix HY16 was built tall – a raised MPV roofline, soft springs and a front-drive chassis that leans hard and sits high on its standard dampers. The Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover comes at that body from the rally direction: long travel front and rear, a bigger buffer distance before the suspension runs out of room, and the damping authority to keep a top-heavy shell composed when the surface turns loose.

This is the kit for owners running a Matrix somewhere its makers never pictured – gravel stages, rallycross heats and snow-bound hill climbs across the Scandinavian and Eastern European markets where these cars sold in real numbers. Built between 2001 and 2010 on shared Getz/Accent underpinnings, the Matrix has the simple, robust mechanicals that reward a damper designed to soak up punishment rather than chase outright stiffness.

What this coilover does for your 2001-2010 Hyundai Matrix

On the road or the special stage, the first thing you feel is wheel control. The extended travel keeps the Matrix’s tyres loaded over ruts, crests and broken tarmac where a road damper would top out and skip. The larger oil and nitrogen volume inside each unit resists heat build-up, so the damping holds its character through a long gravel run instead of fading as the fluid heats. Three adjustment knobs let you set the suspension to the surface, firming it up for hardpack or freeing it to breathe over snow and soft gravel. For a tall front-drive MPV, that adds up to a body level enough to get the power down cleanly, and a front axle that finds grip rather than washing wide.

About the Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover

The Pro Racing Gravel/Snow is XYZ Racing’s rally and rallycross damper, and the engineering priorities show. Front and rear travel is longer than the road-biased kits, opening a bigger buffer zone so the suspension stays controlled instead of crashing into its bump stops when the surface drops away. Each damper carries an increased charge of suspension oil and nitrogen gas – more fluid to carry heat away from the working parts, which keeps the shock stable and stops the oil temperature climbing to the point where the damper gives up after long use. Adjustment runs through three knobs, paired with a deliberately small oil passage in the valving. Hit a big bump and that small passage can give off a faint noise as oil is forced through it; this is by design and normal for the type, not a fault. It is built for ground a road coilover would hate.

Fitment for the Hyundai Matrix (2001-2010)

These coilovers are cut for the Hyundai Matrix, chassis code HY16, across the full 2001 to 2010 production run. Fitment is matched to the front-drive Matrix platform; confirm your car’s chassis code and year against the listing before ordering so the spring and damper lengths line up with your shell.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. With longer travel for both front and rear, it increases bigger buffer distance to keep the car stable. The most advantages of this product is to extend the amount of suspension oil and nitrogen gas which can increase the stability of the shocks and prevent the shock oil temperature too high from being exhausted after long-term use.

Because its 3 adjustment knobs with small oil hole design, when driving through big bumps, the coilover oil will go through small passage which might cause some small noise. This is normal situation. This product is made for circuit tracks and there will be no concern for bumps on the tracks.
