XYZ Racing Gravel Rally Coilovers — Honda TL UA6-UA7 2004-2008

The fourth-generation Honda TL (UA6/UA7) is a deeply unfashionable rally weapon – a 3.2-litre J32 V6 sitting over the front axle of a 1,600kg saloon, with SH-AWD on the UA7 quietly shuffling torque rearward when the front tyres give up. It is not what most people picture on a Welsh forest stage, which is exactly why a handful of owners keep building them: cheap to buy, refuses to die, and the long wheelbase rewards a committed driver on loose surfaces.

The XYZ Racing Gravel Rally coilover is built for that job specifically. Inverted-tube damper, long stroke, long spring – the geometry needed to keep a heavy front-drive-biased saloon planted when the road surface stops being a road.

What this coilover does for your 2004-2008 Honda TL UA6-UA7

The long-stroke architecture is the headline. Stage surfaces – sandstone, silt, packed snow, broken tarmac transitions – feed energy into the chassis in bursts the TL’s standard dampers were never meant to manage, and a short-travel coilover would just bottom out and skip the car offline. The XYZ Racing gravel setup gives you enough stroke to absorb a compression at speed and still have damping left to control the rebound on the way out.

Inverted-tube construction puts the larger, stiffer body at the top of the strut, where bending loads from kerb strikes and ruts are highest, and keeps the shaft cleaner on dusty stages. On the UA7 SH-AWD car, the extra rear-axle composure also gives the rear diff something to work with – less wheel-hop under power out of slow turns, less side-step over mid-corner ripples.

About the Gravel Rally coilover

XYZ describe this damper as the one they develop specifically for rally and rallycross – the use case they rate as the most aggressive in their range. The inverted tube is the central design choice, intended to cope with mixed surfaces from sandstone to snow to silt without the shaft taking abuse from debris and side-loads. Long stroke and a long spring are paired so the damper can soak up high-speed bouncy sections and still resist the cornering G-force that builds up when a heavy saloon is committed to a sweeping gravel turn.

Spring rates across the range are set and signed off by XYZ’s rally team rather than calculated on a desk. That matters on a platform like the TL, which is heavier and longer than the small hatches most off-the-shelf gravel kits are tuned around – you want a baseline that has been loaded up by people who have actually leaned on it.

Fitment for the Honda TL UA6-UA7 (2004-2008)

Built for the fourth-generation Honda TL – chassis codes UA6 (front-drive J32) and UA7 (SH-AWD) – covering the full 2004 to 2008 model run. Confirm your chassis code against the VIN plate before ordering; UA6 and UA7 share the strut geometry but the rear setup differs between the FWD and SH-AWD cars.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. In all racing events, road condition of Rally Cross is the most aggressive one. Hence, it means that the shock absorber is the most important utensil during the Rally gravel competition. We develop inverted tube design to meet each different road condition as sandstone, snow or silt. Long stroke and long spring which enable to absorb chassis vibration, aggressively attack from high speed bouncy road and bear extremely G-force when turning. All spring rate setting are tested by Rally Racing team.
