XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally Coilovers — Honda ELYSION RR1 2004-2013

The Elysion RR1 is an unusual rally weapon – a JDM front-drive MPV riding on a stretched Odyssey-derived platform, with a tall body, soft factory damping and the kind of weight distribution that punishes lazy suspension on a stage. The Tarmac Rally coilover is the answer when an owner has decided this van is going to see closed-road sections rather than school runs, and the standard struts have run out of travel and composure.

Built around sealed-stage tarmac rally settings developed from XYZ Racing’s own rally programme, this kit is aimed squarely at the impact loads and surface changes a Honda Elysion RR1 will see between apex kerbs, mid-corner ruts and the patched tarmac that defines British and European tarmac stages.

What this coilover does for your 2004-2013 Honda Elysion RR1

Drop the ride height on an RR1 and the high centre of gravity stops working against you – body roll calms, the nose stops diving on the brakes, and the chassis finally responds to steering inputs at the rate the front tyres can support. The Tarmac Rally damping is built to absorb sharp single-hit impacts without packing down, so kerb strikes and surface ridges don’t unload the inside front under power. Traction is the real win here: with shock motion controlled, the contact patch stays planted through bumpy corner exits, which on a nose-heavy front-driver like the Elysion is the difference between drive and wheelspin. Day-to-day, you get a chassis that actually communicates – useful when the same van is doing road miles between stages.

About the Tarmac Rally coilover

The Tarmac Rally is engineered specifically for sealed-surface rally use, which is a very different brief from a circuit damper. The valving is tuned to soak up the jolt of a heavy bump without losing body control on the rebound, so the shock body itself stays settled instead of pogoing after each hit. That shock-absorption-first approach is what lets the kit suppress unwanted body movement while still keeping the tyres loaded through compressions. Every setting on this damper has been carried across from XYZ Racing’s own tarmac rally programme rather than adapted from a road or track product, so the spring and damper relationship is what a rally driver would expect to find on the car. The result is a coilover that gives the Elysion RR1 a genuine, stage-capable composure across uneven pavement rather than a stiffer-equals-faster road compromise.

Fitment for the Honda Elysion (2004-2013)

This kit is built specifically for the RR1 chassis Honda Elysion, covering the 2004 through 2013 production run. Confirm your chassis code reads RR1 before ordering – the wider Elysion family used several chassis designations and the geometry differs between them.
