XYZ Racing Top Sport Coilovers — Holden COMMODORE VF 2013-2017

The VF Commodore is a big, rear-drive sedan riding on a long wheelbase, and at standard ride height it leans on its tyres harder than its chassis deserves – particularly in an SS or SS-V with the LS3 sitting over the front axle. The Top Sport coilover is built for owners who want to tighten that body up without turning a daily-driven VF into a back-breaker on a poorly surfaced B-road.

It lifts spring rate roughly 2kg/mm above a street coilover and adds 30-50% more damping force, which is the right side of the dial for a heavy four-door that still has to do supermarket runs on Monday. The Top Sport sits between XYZ Racing’s softer Super Sport street kit and the hardcore Circuit Master track kit, and on a VF that middle position is exactly where most fast-road and occasional-track owners land.

What this coilover does for your 2013-2017 Holden Commodore VF

Drop a VF onto Top Sport coilovers and the first thing you notice is the front end stops washing wide on corner entry. The stiffer spring rate kills the dive that LS-engined Commodores carry into hard braking zones, and the recalibrated damping keeps the rear axle planted when you get back on the throttle. Mid-corner the car rotates more honestly – you stop fighting understeer and start steering with the throttle, which is how a 6.2-litre rear-driver is meant to feel.

Body control over crested A-road sections improves significantly, and on track the VF stops running out of suspension travel by the second flying lap. Adjustable ride height also lets you set the car to fill the arches properly without resorting to lowering springs that wreck the geometry. The damping range is wide enough to soften off for a long motorway leg, then firm up for a Sunday on a circuit.

About the Top Sport coilover

The Top Sport is built on XYZ Racing’s own track-day programme – the spring rates and damping curves are taken from kits the company runs and develops on circuit, not pulled from a generic catalogue. The construction prioritises absorbing the sharp impact of uneven UK tarmac and kerb hits, which matters more than peak grip on a paper dyno chart. Bigger bumps get soaked up without the chassis ringing afterwards, and that controlled rebound is what holds the contact patch loaded through a fast sequence of corners.

Spring rates run roughly 2kg/mm above the Super Sport street kit, with damping force lifted 30-50% to match. Ride height is fully adjustable on the threaded body so you can set front and rear independently. The combination is engineered for aggressive driving and repeat track sessions while staying compliant enough for daily driving – if you want a pure circuit weapon you’d step up to the Circuit Master, and if your VF rarely sees a back road in anger you’d drop down to the Super Sport.

Fitment for the Holden Commodore VF (2013-2017)

This kit is built specifically for the VF-generation Holden Commodore sedan, covering the 2013 through 2017 model years across SV6, SS, SS-V and SS-V Redline variants on the standard VF chassis. Confirm your chassis code matches VF before ordering – VE and VF Series II long-wheelbase Caprice variants use different specifications.
