XYZ Racing Racing Spec Coilovers — Ford FOCUS ST HATCHBACK (Modified Rear Integrated) 2019-2026

The Mk4 Focus ST’s turbocharged four-cylinder puts down enough torque to unsettle the front axle out of slow corners, and the standard dampers were never tuned to control that load transfer at track pace. XYZ Racing’s Racing Spec coilover replaces the strut and shock assembly on the FO29 chassis with a unit built for repeated hard laps rather than road comfort.

This is the range built for time-attack and circuit-day use, not fast-road commuting. Settings trace back to XYZ’s involvement in World Touring Car Championship-level racing, so the valving is calibrated for sustained high-frequency inputs – kerbs, compressions, trail-braking – rather than a single quick run.

What this coilover does for your 2019-2026 Ford Focus ST Hatchback

On the road, understeer and torque steer get managed by grip and patience; on a circuit, they get managed by damping control. A Racing Spec setup on the FO29 chassis keeps the front tyre’s contact patch loaded through trail-braking and resists the throttle-induced squat under power, so the diff and front strut geometry can do their job without the body fighting them for it. Ride height is adjustable at each corner, so you can drop the centre of gravity for a tight, technical circuit or run taller for a fast, bumpy one. Because the valving was set up around sustained lapping rather than a single hot lap, the damper resists fade as the oil heats up over a full session – the ST staying composed on lap fifteen the same way it was on lap one.

About the Racing Spec coilover

XYZ built the Racing Spec line out of its circuit racing programme – the damping is drawn from settings developed in WTCC competition, not adapted from a road product afterwards. That racing background is the point of the range: teams running near-factory race cars and A-class competition cars needed a damper built around a specific build spec rather than a generic aftermarket curve. For cars going beyond typical fast-road modification – bigger brakes, aero, weight reduction, a built engine – XYZ can produce a bespoke shock absorber rather than the standard Racing Spec unit, built once you supply detail on what’s already been changed on the car and which circuit it’s aimed at. The standard Racing Spec kit for the Focus ST covers most track-day and time-attack builds without needing that bespoke step, but the option exists for owners pushing the FO29 platform harder than most.

Fitment for the Ford Focus ST Hatchback (2019-2026)

This kit is built for the FO29-chassis Focus ST Hatchback produced between 2019 and 2026, specified for cars running the modified rear integrated setup rather than the standard rear mounting arrangement. Confirm your Focus ST matches this rear configuration before ordering, as the two setups aren’t interchangeable.
