XYZ Racing Top Sport Coilovers — Ferrari CALIFORNIA (Both front and rear top mount are 4 holes) 2008-2014

The Ferrari California sits in an awkward spot for owners who actually drive them. It is a front-mid-engined GT with a folding hardtop and the weight that comes with it, and the factory damping was tuned for cross-continental composure rather than committed B-road or circuit work. The XYZ Racing Top Sport coilover for the 2008-2014 California (FE04, 4-hole top mounts front and rear) is the kit you fit when you want the car to actually rotate and settle, without giving up the ability to drive it to the track.

Top Sport is XYZ’s circuit-leaning specification. Damping is stiffened roughly 30-50% over the street tune, and spring rates step up by around 2 kg/mm, so the California’s nose stops floating mid-corner and the rear axle stops loading lazily under throttle. It still has the compliance to deal with a broken UK A-road, but the chassis finally feels like it is being driven by the driver rather than by the dampers.

What this coilover does for your 2008-2014 Ferrari California

Drop the California onto a Top Sport set and the first thing you notice is the front axle. The factory understeer the car carries on turn-in softens, and the steering loads up earlier because the springs are no longer letting the nose dive through its travel. Under braking into a fast corner, the platform stays flatter, which is critical on a car this heavy – it gives the front tyres a chance to do their job before the rears start to unweight.

Over big inputs – kerbs, cresting bumps, mid-corner ridges – the stiffer damping absorbs the impact instead of letting the body pitch into a second oscillation. Traction at the rear improves because the contact patch settles faster after a hit. Ride height adjustment lets you lose the factory wheel-arch gap without compromising travel, and the corner-by-corner spring perches mean you can corner-weight the car once it is bedded in.

About the Top Sport coilover

Top Sport is built around XYZ Racing’s circuit-development programme. The damping curve is shifted roughly 30-50% firmer than the street-biased setting, and spring rates are lifted around 2 kg/mm to suit aggressive driving rather than commuting. The intent is straightforward: keep the body controlled across uneven surfaces, suppress the secondary shock motion that street dampers allow, and put more load through the tyre when it matters.

The settings are pulled directly from XYZ’s own Top Sport racing experience, which is why the kit reads as a track-day-first specification with enough compliance left in it to be used on the road. Construction follows XYZ’s coilover-kit template – height-adjustable, with proper spring perches and corner-by-corner adjustability – and the geometry of this FE04 application is specific to the 4-hole top-mount pattern Ferrari used on the California front and rear, so it bolts to the factory mounting points without adapter plates.

Fitment for the Ferrari CALIFORNIA (2008-2014)

This kit is specific to the FE04 chassis California built between 2008 and 2014, with the 4-hole top mount pattern at both the front and rear. Confirm your top-mount bolt pattern before ordering – early production cars and later facelift cars vary, and the 4-hole pattern is the identifying feature for this part number.
