XYZ Racing Racing Spec Coilovers — Ferrari CALIFORNIA (Both front and rear top mount are 2 holes) (Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping) 2008-2014

The Ferrari California’s front-engined, rear-transaxle GT layout was always a compromise between cruiser comfort and the bite a serious driver wants when the road opens up – and the factory magnetorheological dampers, clever as they are, were never designed for sustained lap work at Anglesey or a Bedford GT timing session. The Racing Spec coilover replaces that electronically-controlled OE setup wholesale, swapping adaptive softness for the kind of repeatable, mechanical damping a hard-driven F149 actually needs.

This is the kit for owners running their California in anger – track days, time attack, or sprint events where the OE dampers cook off after three laps. The supplied cancellation kit shuts down the electronic damping ECU cleanly so there are no dashboard warnings to chase once the suspension comes off.

What this coilover does for your 2008-2014 Ferrari California

Strip the OE adaptive struts off an F149 and the change is immediate. Body control under brakes from triple figures into a tight second-gear corner becomes predictable rather than progressive-and-then-suddenly-not. The Racing Spec’s fixed track-oriented valving means the car loads its outside front evenly through long sweepers, which is exactly the trait the California’s nose-led weight distribution needs to extract grip from a Cup 2 or a similar track-biased tyre.

You also gain real ride-height control. The OE car sits where Maranello decided it should sit; with this kit you set corner weights and rake to suit the circuit and the driver, not the dealership. Steering response sharpens, the rear axle stops floating mid-corner under throttle, and front-to-rear pitch under heavy braking is dramatically reduced.

About the Racing Spec coilover

Racing Spec is XYZ’s circuit-only platform – the damping curves are taken directly from the company’s participation in WTCC and equivalent touring car series, then refined through customer race programmes worldwide. Construction is the same monotube architecture used across the XYZ range, but the spring rates and valving sit far further along the stiffness curve than the road-going Super Sport or Top Sport kits.

It is sold as a fixed-spec circuit damper rather than a road-and-track compromise. For owners with serious aero, semi-slick rubber, or factory race-car-grade upgrades, XYZ also build genuinely custom dampers – supply detailed notes on the car’s modifications and the circuits it will run, and the valving can be tailored before the kit leaves the factory. That is a workflow normally reserved for A-class race outfits and works teams, and it is open here.

Fitment for the Ferrari California (2008-2014)

Confirmed for the F149 California with the 2-hole top mount specification, front and rear, chassis code FE04-1-C, model years 2008 to 2014. The kit includes the electronic damping cancellation hardware required to disable the OE adaptive suspension system without leaving fault codes live.
