XYZ Racing Gravel Rally Coilovers — Dodge NEON 1999-2005

The Dodge NEON’s strut-front, beam-rear layout was never meant for fire roads, but a 2,500lb front-drive shell with a willing 2.0 four is exactly the kind of cheap-and-cheerful basis a club-level rally crew will keep buying parts for in 2026. The PL-platform NEON eats kerbs and compressions on tarmac stages; on gravel it needs travel, recovery, and a damper that survives a full day of unsealed surface without fading into mush.

That is what the XYZ Racing Gravel Rally coilover is built around. Inverted-tube construction, long-stroke shafts and long springs – the spec sheet reads like a stage-rally damper because that is what it is, with spring rates signed off by an actual Rally Racing team rather than guessed at on a dyno bench.

What this coilover does for your 1999-2005 Dodge NEON

You will feel the long stroke first. Where a road coilover hits the bump-stop on a deep compression and unloads the inside front, the Gravel Rally damper keeps the contact patch working through the full travel of the strut. The inverted-tube design moves the larger-diameter body up into the strut, which stiffens the assembly against side-load – the load case a NEON sees every time you trail-brake into a loose hairpin and the front-end loads asymmetrically.

On the rear beam, the long spring keeps the inside wheel planted through whoops and yumps instead of skipping and chattering. For a 2.0 SOHC or the R/T’s higher-tune unit, that is the difference between putting power down out of a corner and spinning up on the throttle.

About the Gravel Rally coilover

This is a damper engineered specifically for rally cross and gravel-stage use, which XYZ describe as the most aggressive surface condition any shock absorber will face. The inverted-tube architecture is the headline – it handles sandstone, snow and silt by keeping the working surfaces protected and the shaft side-load resistant under the violent inputs gravel hands a chassis.

The long stroke is the engineering response to bouncy, high-speed unsealed surfaces; the long spring sits alongside it to soak chassis vibration and tolerate the extreme G-forces of a stage corner taken in anger. Every spring rate offered has been validated by a working Rally Racing team rather than extrapolated from road data. This is not a fast-road coilover with softer settings; the construction itself is different to a tarmac damper.

Fitment for the Dodge NEON (1999-2005)

This kit fits the second-generation Dodge NEON, PL-platform chassis (DO03 in the XYZ catalogue), covering the full 1999 through 2005 production run. That spans the base SOHC cars through the SRT-4 era shell and the R/T variants. Confirm your specific trim against the configurator before checkout.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. In all racing events, road condition of Rally Cross is the most aggressive one. Hence, it means that the shock absorber is the most important utensil during the Rally gravel competition. We develop inverted tube design to meet each different road condition as sandstone, snow or silt. Long stroke and long spring which enable to absorb chassis vibration, aggressively attack from high speed bouncy road and bear extremely G-force when turning. All spring rate setting are tested by Rally Racing team.
