XYZ Racing Gravel Rally Coilovers — BMW X3 F25 4WD 2010-2017

The F25 X3 is not the obvious rally car. It sits taller than a 3-Series, carries more mass over the front axle, and routes power through BMW’s xDrive system rather than a stripped-out rear-drive shell – but that combination of ground clearance and all-wheel traction is exactly why gravel-stage and rallycross builders keep coming back to this chassis. What it lacks in factory motorsport pedigree it makes up for in the raw ingredients: height to clear ruts, and a drivetrain that can put power down on loose surfaces a lowered saloon can’t touch.

The XYZ Racing Gravel Rally coilover is built for that job specifically – not fast road, not circuit lapping, but sustained abuse on sandstone, snow, and silt where the shock absorber is doing more work than the engine. On a 4WD X3 running gravel stages, that means a damper that can survive repeated high-speed compression events without fading, while still controlling a body that’s carrying SUV-level mass through every crest and dip.

What this coilover does for your 2010-2017 BMW X3 F25 4WD

Rally-raid stages punish a damper with exactly the kind of high-frequency, high-amplitude input the F25’s stock suspension was never asked to survive – compression events measured in inches, not millimetres, arriving one after another at speed. The long-stroke design gives the X3’s taller, heavier body somewhere to put that vertical travel instead of bottoming out or transmitting every hit straight into the chassis. On snow or silt, where grip comes and goes without warning, that extra stroke keeps the tyre loaded and xDrive’s front-to-rear torque split actually usable rather than fighting a suspension that’s already out of travel. The inverted tube construction is there for durability under the debris and impact loading gravel stages throw at a shock body, and the spring rates are set to work with the X3’s weight distribution rather than a lighter rally hatch, so the car settles rather than pogos over washboard sections.

About the Gravel Rally coilover

XYZ Racing developed this damper specifically for rally and rallycross use, where road surface changes stage to stage – sandstone one run, snow or silt the next – and the shock absorber becomes the single most stressed component in the car. The inverted tube layout is a deliberate response to that variability, built to keep working as conditions shift rather than being tuned for one surface. Long stroke and long spring travel are paired together so the damper can absorb chassis vibration from aggressive, high-speed bouncy roads and still control the body under the extreme cornering loads a gravel stage generates when the car is thrown sideways into a turn. Spring rates across the range aren’t desk-calculated; they’re set from data logged by an active rally racing team, which is why the base tune already accounts for the way a loaded car behaves mid-stage rather than on a smooth test track.

Fitment for the Bmw X3 F25 4WD (2010-2017)

This kit is built for the F25-generation X3 4WD, covering the 2010 to 2017 production run. Confirm your car sits within that window and runs the xDrive all-wheel-drive layout before ordering, as suspension geometry and mounting points differ from rear-drive variants.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. In all racing events, road condition of Rally Cross is the most aggressive one. Hence, it means that the shock absorber is the most important utensil during the Rally gravel competition. We develop inverted tube design to meet each different road condition as sandstone, snow or silt. Long stroke and long spring which enable to absorb chassis vibration, aggressively attack from high speed bouncy road and bear extremely G-force when turning. All spring rate setting are tested by Rally Racing team.

Top mounts included with your kit

Every XYZ Racing coilover kit ships with the upper mounts listed below for your exact chassis — no extra parts to source.

Front

  • Pillow ball + rubber top mountPillow ball + rubberP+Pillow-ball upper with a rubber insert — adds steering precision and camber adjustability while keeping some of the factory mount’s harshness damping.
  • Hardened rubber top mountHardened rubberRHardened rubber upper — firmer than the factory bush for tighter response while retaining road-friendly noise and vibration isolation.

Rear

  • Aluminium top mountAluminiumAAluminium upper mount — a stiff, lightweight housing that locates the damper precisely and resists flex under load.
