XYZ Racing Circuit Master Coilovers — BMW 7 SERIES E38 8 CYL (NOT AIR STRUT) 1995-2002

The 8-cylinder E38 carries more weight over its nose than most cars that ever see a circuit – a V8, a full luxury spec sheet, and a kerb weight that runs well past 1.8 tonnes. XYZ Racing’s Circuit Master coilover is built for owners running the conventional steel-spring version of this chassis, not the factory air-strut option, who still want to take that mass onto a track and keep it settled through a full session rather than a single fast lap.

Circuit Master sits at the top of XYZ’s range because sustained circuit lap-time work asks more of a suspension than a Sunday blast. On a car the size of the 8-cylinder 7 Series, that means spring and damping rates chosen to hold the body flat through repeated braking zones and direction changes, not just the first corner.

What this coilover does for your 1995-2002 Bmw 7 Series E38 8 CYL (NOT AIR Strut)

The E38’s factory setup was tuned for a limousine ride, which means generous body roll and pronounced nose dive under hard braking – exactly what a big V8 saloon does when threshold-braked into a corner at speed. Height adjustment on this kit lowers the centre of gravity and tightens that platform, cutting the pitch and roll a stock 740i or 750i shows on track. The damping side is where Circuit Master does its real work: three external adjustment knobs give access to 9720 combinations of compression and rebound settings, enough range to move a heavy saloon from a comfort-biased factory feel to a setup that resists dive under braking and keeps the outside tyre loaded through long corners. That range matters more on an E38 than on a lighter car, because there is simply more mass for the damper to control every time direction or speed changes.

About the Circuit Master coilover

Circuit Master is XYZ’s dedicated circuit-spec damper, developed and run by XYZ’s own racing teams across a number of international circuits before making it to the road-going range. The headline figure is 9720 possible adjustment combinations, delivered through three external knobs rather than a single dial, so compression and rebound can be tuned independently for a given track or driving style. Because the valving uses a small-passage oil-hole design to give that fine adjustment resolution, you may hear a faint noise from the damper over sharp bumps and expansion joints on the road – that’s a side effect of the circuit-tuned valving, not a fault, and it isn’t something the design needs to answer for once you’re on a smooth circuit surface. This is a kit built around lap sessions and repeated hard use, not comfort-first commuting.

Fitment for the Bmw 7 Series E38 8 CYL (NOT AIR Strut) (1995-2002)

This kit is built for the E38-chassis BMW 7 Series, 1995 to 2002, specifically the 8-cylinder (V8) cars fitted with conventional steel coil suspension from the factory. It is not compatible with E38s specified with the factory air-strut self-levelling system – check which suspension your car left the factory with before ordering, since the two setups are not interchangeable.
