XYZ Racing Gravel Rally Coilovers — BMW 6 SERIES F06 2011-2018

The F06 6 Series Gran Coupé was never meant to see a gravel stage. It is a long-wheelbase, 1.9-tonne grand tourer with adaptive dampers tuned for autobahn cruising and a chassis bias that rewards smooth inputs over violent ones. The XYZ Racing Gravel Rally coilover exists for owners who are taking that platform somewhere the factory engineers never imagined – loose surface, big compressions, repeated landings – and need a damper that survives it.

This is the most specialised kit in the XYZ catalogue. It is built around an inverted-tube design with extended stroke and longer-than-standard springs, with rates and valving signed off by rally teams running on sandstone, snow and silt. For an F06 being used in classic rally, hillclimb on loose surface, or a custom build that needs serious wheel travel, this is the coilover that takes the brief seriously.

What this coilover does for your 2011-2018 Bmw 6 Series F06

Gravel work punishes a chassis in ways tarmac never does. Compression speeds are higher, rebound has to manage unloaded wheels coming back to the surface, and the damper body itself takes a beating from stone strikes. The inverted-tube layout puts the heavier, more vulnerable damper body up top and runs the chromed shaft downward, which keeps the working surface cleaner and the unsprung mass lower than a conventional twin-tube would on the same car.

The long-stroke design is the headline benefit on the F06. A 5018mm-long Gran Coupé carries a lot of mass over each axle, and on a rough surface that mass wants to use every millimetre of suspension travel it can find. Extended stroke means the dampers keep working through the full compression event rather than coasting off the bump-stops, which is what protects the shells, the subframes and the driver’s confidence over fast, broken ground.

About the Gravel Rally coilover

The Gravel Rally is engineered for the harshest surface in motorsport – rally cross and gravel stages where road condition is the most aggressive variable in the equation. XYZ Racing build it around an inverted-tube damper specifically to handle the three reference surfaces the platform is signed off on: sandstone, snow and silt. Each of those loads the damper differently, and the inverted layout was selected to cope with the range rather than optimise for one.

Stroke length and spring length are both extended over the road-going XYZ kits. The long springs allow the damper to absorb chassis vibration on continuous high-frequency inputs, and the long stroke is what lets the car attack a high-speed bouncy section without bottoming through the available travel. Spring rate selection is not theoretical – every setting on this kit has been tested by rally teams in live competition, which is the only context where the loads this damper is designed for actually exist.

Fitment for the Bmw 6 Series (2011-2018)

This kit is specified for the BMW F06 6 Series Gran Coupé, the four-door variant of the F-generation 6 Series produced from 2011 to 2018. Confirm your chassis code reads F06 on the VIN plate before ordering – the two-door F12 Coupé and F13 Convertible run different suspension geometry and require their own application.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. In all racing events, road condition of Rally Cross is the most aggressive one. Hence, it means that the shock absorber is the most important utensil during the Rally gravel competition. We develop inverted tube design to meet each different road condition as sandstone, snow or silt. Long stroke and long spring which enable to absorb chassis vibration, aggressively attack from high speed bouncy road and bear extremely G-force when turning. All spring rate setting are tested by Rally Racing team.

Top mounts included with your kit

Every XYZ Racing coilover kit ships with the upper mounts listed below for your exact chassis — no extra parts to source.

  • Aluminium top mountAluminiumAAluminium upper mount — a stiff, lightweight housing that locates the damper precisely and resists flex under load.
