XYZ Racing Top Sport Coilovers — BMW 5 SERIES E60 M5 (Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping) 2005-2010

The E60 M5 was sold with EDC – BMW’s electronically controlled damping that bled feel out of the S85 V10 saloon the moment you asked it a serious question on a B-road or a circuit. This Top Sport kit ships with the cancellation harness specifically so you can delete that system at the strut and run a proper mechanical coilover without throwing dashboard errors.

That matters on a 1,855kg V10 saloon with 500bhp going through the rear axle. The Top Sport is XYZ Racing’s track-day-and-fast-road spec, sitting above the Super Sport on damping aggression and built around a 30-50% stiffer damping curve plus roughly 2kg/mm more spring rate than a street setup – numbers that fit the E60 M5’s weight and the way its tail steps out when you load the chassis mid-corner.

What this coilover does for your 2005-2010 Bmw 5 Series E60 M5 (Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping)

The first thing you’ll feel is the EDC ghost gone. The standard car’s adaptive struts soften under load right when you want them planted; replacing them with a fixed-rate damper and matched spring gives the E60 a corner-entry confidence it never had from the factory. Body roll on turn-in drops sharply, which on a long-wheelbase saloon translates directly to less attitude change when the V10 spools through the mid-range.

Stiffer rates also clean up the rear axle’s behaviour under throttle. The S85 doesn’t make peak torque until 6,100rpm, so the chassis is being asked to manage a long, building load – exactly where stock damping runs out of travel control. Ride-height adjustment lets you set the M5’s stance properly without hammering the geometry, and the damping range gives you room to soften for the motorway slog to a circuit and firm up once you’re through the gate.

About the Top Sport coilover

The Top Sport is the spec XYZ Racing builds from their own track-day programme. Damping runs 30 to 50 percent firmer than their street setting, paired with spring rates lifted by around 2kg/mm – the brief is absorbing big single hits like kerbs and broken tarmac while suppressing the secondary body movements that ruin tyre contact mid-corner.

The construction is built to take aggressive use without losing consistency over a session. Where the Super Sport prioritises road comfort, the Top Sport tips the balance toward circuit composure: it’ll still cover the daily commute, but it’s set up assuming you’re going to use the car hard. XYZ position this as their suitable-for-track-day-and-aggressive-driving spec, drawn directly from their own racing experience.

Fitment for the Bmw 5 Series E60 M5 (Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping) (2005-2010)

This kit is the BM42-C application – the E60 M5 (and equivalent E61 Touring M5) variant with the EDC cancellation harness included. It covers model years 2005 through 2010, the full production span of the V10 M5 saloon. The cancellation kit removes the OE adaptive damping circuit so the new mechanical coilover runs without throwing a dashboard fault.
